"Our first time eating at Basil and we will not return. We spent the entire day in Carmel by the Sea eating breakfast, lunch, dinners, drinks and wine tastings at several different places and they were all fantastic; except here. We did not have time to dine at the restaurant before leaving but did not want to miss ordering our favorite- pasta arrabbiata. We picked it up and could not wait to eat on our way home. To say we were disappointed upon opening the box would be a disappointment. 27 poorly presented over cooked noodles. 27. It looked as if half the dish was forgotten there was so little. We even called to confirm this was correct. Sadly, their response was yes the presentation we received was normal: $25 for what we got in that box NEVER AGAIN."

"The Scampi here was the best meal I’ve eaten on a three week vacation through central California. The ocean view is amazing and the service was also great. It’s a bit pricy for sure, but in my opinion it’s fair value. My wife is vegetarian and they had a very good vegetable tower entree."

"Been going here for 20 years or more. And it’s consistently great. We always get the grilled artichoke and it’s always so delicious. The balsamic reduction and the dipping sauce is addicting. We love sitting in the bar and the drinks are good and strong. The staff are all super friendly and efficient."
