"A nice wee cafe with a really great outdoor area for kids, something that you don't find in cafes often.<br/>The decor was awesome and a really comfortable and friendly setting, the lady who served us was lovely and made sure we were happy throughout the night. <br/>The meal me and my partner had was amazing, we took up the 2 for 1 pizza deal and was not disappointed. <br/>The dessert however- chocolate mousse was a wee bit too rich and heavy which let us down. <br/>All in all though, very happy with the service and will definitely be back."

"Let's be honest, the vegan pickings in this town is slim. So why not try a hybrid place! The owner's wife is the mastermind behind vegan delicatessen Grater Goods and the provider of the beautiful vegan deli platter. The fried chicken is more like schnitzel. The hand-cut fries with the vegan aioli are made in heaven. Beautiful craft beer, even if you're a lagerhead be bold, venture out."

"Loved the main meals, would have given full marks only the dessert was a real disappointment. Ordered chocolate mouse encased in chocolate. But was really let down by the size of it. It was laughable. It would have been the size of two chocolates. They gave us a dessert spoon to eat it with, but the dessert spoon was bigger than the whole dessert. (the price was only $5 for this, but they would have been better to double it and charge $10) Will go back again, but wont be ordering dessert."

"What an amazing restaurant neatly tucked away! The food was amazing paired with such beautiful service. I would definitely would dine there again. I had the short rib with duck fat potatoes. So delicious and thanks for having us! It was so easy to give the restaurant 5 stars"

"Excellent views from upper floors. My room was clean and beautifully laid out. A comfortable bed meant a good nights sleep. A well stocked fridge, plenty of tea ad coffee. Also a good menu on offer for breakfast, lunch and evening meals. Lovely, friendly staff."

"We just stopped by for drinks after a walk on the pier.<br/ <br/ The experience was very pleasant though. The atmosphere was easy and relaxed (they have comfortable couch seats), service was friendly, and the view from the huge glass window was absolutely breathtaking. The drinks were nice too.<br/ <br/ The perfect place to chill, or even for functions."

"Great location, great atmosphere. for lunch to chiwahwahs landed, getting a table outside, a great view of the beautiful river avon and surroundings. the menu has so many possibilities. the food we chose was delicious. we have to go back to try more. also have a large selection of drinks. the service was excellent. it was busy in the restaurant, but the staff went around to check and refill our glasses water (which was needed as there was a warm sunny day) had big dinge heard about this place and it certainly was all right. will definitely be back and would not have recommended any hesitation."

"Review for Buffet breakfast. We stayed at Breakfree a year ago and had the buffet breakfast included. We were very happy with it last time so when we came back down again we went to try it again. We weren't disappointed. The price is very reasonable $19.50NZD for the full buffet. It isn't gourmet food but they get the basics right. The hot buffet has scrambled egg, baked beans, fried tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms, hash browns, streaky bacon and breakfast sausages. The continental section has a variety of breads for toasting, spreads, butter and margarine. There are cheeses and ham, mini croissants, a selection of danish pastries, museli, cornflakes, weetbix, and tinned peaches, pears, apricots to top it off with. Fresh fruit and various pottles of youghurt are also included. Beverages are the standard choice of teas, filter coffee, orange juice and apple juice. The buffet closes at 11am on Saturday and Sunday, and you don't have to be staying at Breakfree to enjoy it. The staff were really helpful and friendly too. We found on street metered parking quite easily near by. Tariff was $3.10 per hour on weekends. We will definitely be back next time we are in Christchurch."
