"Day 3 of our holiday in the Bavarian Forest should lead us to Hausberg, the Great Arber. The Great Arber is the highest mountain in Lower Bavaria with 1455,5 m above NHN. Since the ascent from the day before to Rachel was still stuck in the bones, Hundi looked at us strangely as he should get rid of his ceiling in the car, we decided this time to choose the comfortable tourist ascent. Instead of 6 years ago we hiked this year from the Arbersee from the valley station of the Arberbahn. On the adjacent large parking lot you will get rid of your car and you can either drive on the Arberbergbahn to just below the summit, or climb the summit over wide and firm roads in a pleasant ascent. We chose the second version. At the summit there is much to go through the mountain railway, as the foothills of the city and also the no longer so gloomy senior can climb the mountain. So after we were on the summit, the obligatory photos had in front of the summit cross in the box, we dared the descent again. Since it was shortly after 12, we decided to eat a small snack at the Eisensteiner Hütte. Already at the departure we saw that the beer garden was already well visited, but we dared. As a lunch snack, the Bavarian sausage salad with vinegar, onion rings and bread was desired for € 8.50, as well as twice the tanned wood stove cheese with homemade potato salad for €10.20. The prices were already proud, but at least enjoy a magnificent view of the country, and somehow the goods have to get up here. After not even two minutes the drinks were standing on our table, 5 minutes later our main dishes were there. Beverages Our table has now also been made “full” so that we have an older couple to the table. I was a bit disappointed with the beer, I expected a barrel of beer, but unfortunately I only got bottles of beer. So few kilometers next to the house brewery this is already amazing. But still taste. My daughter was looking forward to her sausage salad, but according to appearance and taste it wasn't here on the house. A Lyon sausage cut to long strips, lots of onion on it, little cucumber in it. Eat about it, ready. So I get those packed in the rewe in Zwiesel. The bright tomatoes did not make the appearance better. For this, the pulp was delicious even if it cost 50 cents of an additional fee compared to the semmel. Bavarian sausage salad with vinegar, onion rings and bread The browned wood stove liver cheese with homemade potato salad looked different. Two “normal” slices of liver cheese, strongly fried in abundant fat. In shape and taste this liver cheese was also not homemade, for example for the last time in the restaurant "Dampfbräu" in Zwiesel. Shape and taste strongly reminds of the snacks around the corner. It also speaks against homemade that my wife needed her students a few minutes after eating as if their allergies to glutamate and other flavor enhancers were their stomach. The potato salad was delicious. Typically Bavarian in a marinade of oil and vinegar with slightly floury potatoes. For this purpose, horseradish and mustard were advised. There were better liver cheeses. Why this one was called a wooden cheese here, I don't think so. Tanned wood stove liver cheese with homemade potato salad Since the urge at the beer garden was growing, the city slept, we wanted to pay. Again, there was no evidence, the sum was calculated in the head. Our conclusion: Unlike Rachel, the Great Arber can be reached for almost all. Accordingly, the Eisensteiner Hütte is not what it promises, because for the daily tourist tower the kitchen must work quickly and efficiently. A fantastic view, but eating at snack or bistro level. For that with the double price. I praise the Racheldiensthütte. Overall, we left 40 euros up here."

"We did not know that this restaurant was in operation until we returned early one day from an outing with the Waldbahn. Since it was mid afternoon we decided to stop there for coffee and cake. What a fortunate choice! We had their apple cake and it was delicious! I would have loved to have a second piece, it was so good, but knew it would have been more than I could have eaten. Unfortunately we never came back from our outings early enough again to repeat this experience."
