"Seems like this pub is brand new, very clean, and very modern. The waitress, whom barely spoke English, was extremely friendly. Half Liter draft beers for 3-4€, and typical German grub for €6-20, which was simple but good. Tidbit: this pub used to be Hitler's private train entrance."

"The first evening of the holiday in Berchtesgaden should, of course, be spent in a typical restaurant of Bavarian tradition. After we were able to sort out a little on the day and the sparrow had already eaten well in the Golden Bear Inn three years ago, the choice was not difficult. We were looking for a short time at noon and wanted to book, but it would not be necessary to assure us, just come by, there is already a place for two. All right. We spent the day with a bus trip to the Königssee, from there we marched back to the hotel along the Königsseer Ache. A pretty beautiful way. Shortly freshened and off to the local. There was something going on about half six. Many tables occupied, a few reserved and only a few free. What should be enough for us. We got a little two table and the cards. Behind us was mood. In the middle of the room a large board sat on the 18 people, which seem to be not necessarily traveling together. Locals sat in costume and drank together with tourists and normally dressed locals. There was hit together, drunk, sung. A typical host house mood. I like that. Likewise, it is not shy to live the dialect. As I hate it, if one tries to speak with all violence Hochdeutsch and thus deny its origin. The menu is as traditional as the charming guest room. Haxen, peasants, pork roasts, schnitzel and various dumplings. The torment of choice. In addition, in the entrance area there is a Dry Ager with stable cattle back Dry Ager in the entrance area (high-edged) We chose typical Bavarian cuisine for the evening. And this also includes typical Bavarian beer. But also the wine card keeps a few delicacies ready. In addition to many Austrian plants, Edles from Italy, Frankeich and Spain. Even an Opus One from the Nappa Valley, born in 2009, stands for narrow 450€ in the map. Would you like to know who ordered something like this in the deepest Bavaria to the Haxn.... So after we had all the time to choose, the service manager came to pick up the order. A hell for me, a Zwickl cellar beer for the sparrow. Beverages also came quickly, while the Zwickl was served in a proper jug. I had to prefer the glass. Both beers but super delicious, so soon a second round had to come. But first there was an appetizer for me herbal pancake soup pancake soup (high) If I'm here before, of course I have to eat this soup (Obacht will surely agree with me). And what should I say was wonderful. I ate my last soup of this kind about 30 years ago. In Carinthia. And it certainly wasn't nearly as good as this one. The soup was still evaporating when she came to the table. And smelled wonderful. A good broth as a base, many pancake strips as insert, some carrots and fresh cut liquor. Why this was herbal pancakes now, I can't say the strips didn't look like it. Nevertheless, the soup was well tasted and was just good. 4* The sparrow looked at me first, but was allowed to try a few spoons. She was still speculating on a dessert. But first she rejoiced about 1/2 ham crusts Haxen Kraut Knödel 1/2 ham crust Haxen Kraut Knödel Her joyful face spoke volumes. On the way to Berchtesgaden, she just told me about it. And now she had a haxe standing in front, with crispy, shiny bacon. That looked neat, it also tasted super, only the slightly dry, pickled meat blew me a little bit of the taste. But not at the sparrow. The two dumplings, a semmel and one of raw potatoes, you can do better. The sour wort has not yet boiled, the pleasant acidity took a little heavy to the hearty dish. The roast sauce rounded off the classic dish. The sparrow was happy, I give 4* My main course then looked as follows: 1/2 Lugeder peasant peasant 2 potato dumplings apple blue herb lingerie 1/2 Lugeder peasant sapperlot. Actually my first peasant. And then a good one. juicy, perfectly cooked and wonderfully aromatic. A crispy skin. Just get appetite again. The classic potato dumplings, filled with bread and garnished with butterballs, cannot be made better. Fluffy and yet solid, beautiful yellow color and potatoy in taste. Then the blue herb. That's where net meckern would say A. S. from Munich. Had even fine bites, was wonderfully aromatic tasted. In the end, this duck was worth very good 4.5*. At any time. Something negative was then the fact that the, obviously auxiliary condition, wanted to clear our plates even though the sparrow was not finished. Otherwise, this was excellent, and especially the two chief service personnel were always paratoid and attentive. As regards cleanliness, there was also no reason to complain. The dining room clean, as well as the tables, the toilets as well. There, however, man and woman must go to the first floor over the stairs. Since the sparrow still had the pleasure of something sweet, she ordered another baroque dump with poppy butter Germknödel with poppy butter Was a trunk. When I look, I almost burst. In the end, I almost half cleaned him away. This thing has already tasted. And stuffed with an alcoholic fruit jam, something between plumage and cherry, possibly both, doesn't know exactly. The poppy butter abundant and rich. In the end good, but nothing spectacular. 3.5* At the end, we still gave each other a schnapps, which we needed bitterly. I chose a Marillen who came too sweet and flat. Almost perfumed. There is much better. Like the red Williams Christ the spatz got. Although it cost twice, it tasted very, very good. At the same time we thanked and threatened with a new visit. After this Saturday night, we were sure to feed just as well next time. This was then on Monday evening after a strenuous hike to the ice skating above Lake Königssee and below Watzmann. We crossed the Königssee to the St. Bartholomew chapel by electric boat. As it has been since 1908 Usus. Once there we tortured ourselves up to the ice-cold, but had a nice greeting from home, which we liked to taste. Once again we were able to enjoy a freshly smoked chard with bread and cream seafood. That's a hell. That was good. But only one snack, for the third evening in Berchtesgaden it should go to the Golden Bear again. I already had a wish, the sparrow as well. But this time, not reserved again, we had to wait for just five minutes standing until we were asked to a table. A very beautiful place in one of the rear corners, a beautiful séparée, even if another couple was put to the table. We don't want to complain Our table in the Séparée (top) We drank the twig cellar beer again, we left an appetizer that night. The sparrow glowed half the peasants, as I had to enjoy them two days before. And this time too, there was nothing to complain about. I had less luck with my choice. All day I was already after Schnitzel, and so I ordered the classic as follows: Wienerschnitzel vom Strohschwein mit potatosalat Wienerschnitzel vom Strohschwein I think the picture speaks for itself. What a disappointment. So close to Austria, and then such a pale and painless carving, which has not earned the name at all. Too bad about the straw pig. The meat seems to have been out of the back. It was through but soulless. The panting is only fade and greasy, I only ate it because I was hungry and I'm in charge. It was edible, but after the great duck two days before and the equally good haxe I had expected much better. The potato salad, which I had deliberately preferred the Pommes, could not really save it, was not worth the speech either. After all, it's made with broth and not too cold. A quarter of lemon and a bowl of cranberries. The most beautiful was then really the plate... Well-being 2.5* Nevertheless, or just so dare me after a dessert. That's why I chose this time and ordered a Rahmapfelstrudel Alpensalzkaramell cream Rahmapfelstrudel That could make me a little reconciled. I would have liked to incorporate the strudel warm, yet it was delicious and the salty caramelis was great. A conciliatory conclusion. 4* At the end there should be another digestif, and this year there was ever a grappa for the sparrow and me. It was neat, better than the Marille before, but also not overwhelming. It doesn't matter. We were tired, more or less satisfied and would certainly come back if there is no carving. The scavenger is then also what draws the cut down during food and PLV. Who knows what it was like, I would have eaten the haxe or a pig roast the second time. Because the defensive dishes and the soup were very convincing. If it results, etc... I'd give the Golden Bear a third chance."
