"We were looking for lunch on the way back to the tunnel for six of us. It was open a Sunday with limited restaurants. We park right outside, so we thought we'd let it go. We went in and it seemed that all tables were booked, but no, they made room for us. We all had a head and sweet, with a few rounds of drinks. The food was excellent, chicken in a creamy cheese sauce that had four of us. Fish with Ratatouille, Camembert with Lardons and Salad, all served with delicious frits. A variety of sweets that were also excellent. All house made and beautifully presented. So we think that a man and a woman team, with little English, supports another customer with some of the course translations. This was a brilliant coincidence that we would definitely visit again."

"We were in jardins d’hardelot on the street where the breakfast is 13e per person....here we could get breakfast for all four of us at the price of one in the hotel. super friendly staff, great selection of delicious pastries in a bright, clean...and modern shop recommended. we sat on benches at the window and had luck for all of us that there are limited seats."

"Called in to this well located cafe bar while exploring the walled old town , it had a selection of various beers including a fruit beer and on first impressions appears a typical French cafe bar , it was not busy there were approx eight...other people who were possibly local or certainly regular visitors, all was good until it was discovered we were English where one of the males became abusive and vocally made his feelings felt fortunately the rest of the group were friendly , we consumed five beers in total one large glass and four small , we decided to leave having heard enough ignorance and racist remarks, on asking for the bill which was not itemised I was charged euros , as there were no prices on the beers I had to accept it was correct and handed over euro note , the barman on opening his till initially picked up some then replaced them and gave me in change with a smile , I told him I had given him he never disputed the fact went back to the till and got me my correct money and smiled , I did not leave a tip he knew exactly what he was doing , after suffering not only verbal abuse but also an attempt to fleece me we left , after ten weeks touring France the first and only incident of racism or dishonesty and to be noted I would say not a reflection of the country or it's people."

"On my latest visit to Boulogne I made my usual visit to Le Bruegel a very typically French brasserie. Always a nice place to start the stay with the familiar faces and quick efficient service. Plat du jour was veal or hake. I chose the veal which was very good. Two of my companions had the hake which looked good also, came in a generous portion, and received very positive comments."

"The return after two years has changed. this time we sat down, with a little bit other clientele from the top floor restaurant. they can also sit at the bar with a beer and eat there. all dishes around generous amounts of fresh seafood, well prepared and presented with good sauces etc., but in no wise pretentious. Although the 28euro menu may seem expensive, we have found that it is really too much for one, so, again we took a menu and an additional main course, share the starter and dessert. the combination dishes are particularly good, so a taste of the many species of fish is available. highly recommended, and we will get back to the next opportunity!"
