"The Black Duck has an interesting menu, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Was worried about the price but overall this bistro did not disappoint. Good service, good position and drinks selection. Would recommend and return when we are in Gladstone."

"My husband and I thought we might give this little place a try on a lazy Saturday afternoon. We arrived to mostly empty tables, the only other table was the owner and his friends. We took it upon ourselves to take a seat as no one seemed interested in seating us. After 10 or so minutes my husband ventured inside to get s couple of menus, and we waited for someone to come and take our order, no one came. You have to order inside at the counter, that's ok, if we had been told. The owner smoking his cigarettes at the tables with his friends was rather off putting as the smoke blew straight over our table. The sisha doesn't smell. After a lengthy wait, for two dishes, we were the only ones there, I did enjoy my food, until the owner came over to our table, cigarette in hand puffing away while having a rather weird conversation about how some people in Gladstone in the food industry are his enemies?? Satisfied with the food, despite the wait! Lots of room for improvement here and I hope the owner takes these reviews on board!"

"As Australia is an expensive country, this was one of the few "restaurants"/ cafes I went to in Australia.The staff was very friendly.I had a nice lunch in a quit atmosphere on 1st May on a sunny day! The prices are okay. If you consider the view, it was worth the money."

"It is with heavy heart that I actually write this report - we holiday @ South West Rocks every year & for the past couple of years we actually make a point of coming out to Gladstone for the day to enjoy the surroundings as well as having lunch/dinner at this beautiful Hotel. The last 2 years we have been deeply disappointed with the service of the restaurant - they always run out of their "specials". This year we asked what time does the restaurant/bistro close - 2.00pm - so us ladies went out for some boutique shopping - returned just after 12.00 but the CLOSED sign was put up for food orders @ 1.15pm! However after some persuasion we were able to order a couple of "dips" which were overpriced - it was inconvenient time as it was pouring rain & we were unable to go another establishment to order some lunch. Very disappointed we will not be making the trip out next year."
