"The atmosphere was noteworthy — warm and lively without being crowded, a fire going on the patio, a nice volume level. A wonderful space for a date night or celebration dinner. The service was good — what you’d expect for an establishment of that caliber. The food was, sadly, a serious letdown — we tried 6 dishes and found only 1 of them to be worth ordering again. The mussels were truly spectacular, perfectly done with a flavorful and interesting broth. Unfortunately, everything else disappointed. The radicchio and gnocchi were both very one-note and lacked balance, the pork chop was significantly over-salted, and the chocolate tres leches and beef tartare were mediocre. Not what we expected from the admiral at all, and quite a bummer!"

"We had a reservation in the main dining room and decided to do the seasonal tasting menu, one with the wine pairings, one without. All of the courses were varied, expertly prepared and delicious. We especially appreciated the spacing between courses, which allowed us to not only enjoy the flavor of each course, but also the overall ambience of the restaurant. The service was outstanding from beginning to end and they easily accommodated special requests. We highly recommend the Gramercy Tavern!"

"Food, ambiance, service, etc. everything is great, and I used to go there regularly and recommended it to everyone. But be aware that if you call them to cancel your reservation way ahead of time, they may end up not taking it into account in their system and charge you a $50/head cancellation fee and fight it with your bank if you file a claim, which is a shameful behavior and goes against their stated terms conditions upon booking."

"Unbelievable Sole. It is September 8 and the weather is nice. No reservation, but we have about 6;30 there and sat on the terrace under the tree. And they had sole! You don't often see this and it was local, off the coast of Oregon. With Savoy Kohl, Golden Potatoes and Casino Clams (I asked the waiter if she played Black Jack, he laughed then explained what that was). Nice wine selection."
