"Inacceptable! one of the worst NYC eating experiences of my life. please do me a favor and never go there. this facility does not deserve to serve and close food to everyone. a friend from hawaii was a few days in the city and I was instructed to search for a restaurant. as a French food lover I have made some research about new upcoming French restaurants and stumbled on the nyt article from early 2017 harlems French renaissance, where cheri was equipped with great reviews. all reviews online – both on google and on opentable for cheri were positiw and I was very excited to try it. something must have happened to the owner/cook/administration, I was the experience I had on Tuesday, nothing like the reviews. we were released from the moment we came there: 1.Welcome – the personal was unwilling, cold and not smiling. not to check on us. 2.Empty – the restaurant was almost empty for dinner on Tuesday night. it should have been a red flag. 3.Food – nothing positive to say here. we first ordered to start – the burrata, the blanching, the devoured and the chicken paw. the pastes lubricated like dog food and I couldn't force myself to eat it. for the main dishes I ordered the tartare, which was unbeatable, with too much pine nuts in the mixture, much too oily and the carrots were soaked in oil. as for the salad it had no dressing and it does not taste fresh. I felt my plate half full and felt sick. 4.Price – not only eating terrible, but the prices were high. I felt robbed. that was a terrible experience. this restaurant should be closed."

"I came here because I’m unabashedly in love with Alex Guarnaschelli Oddly enough, this wasn’t the best meal I’ve ever had and I came in with that expectation given this place is overseen by an Iron Chef and frequent Chopped judge. The meal • The house rolls. Amazing! A must try. The most buttery bread without it being a mess or too rich. The accompanied butters are nice (although the herb option was a little much for me). The sea salt on top is a perfect touch. • The salmon. Eh. It was fine…I‘ve had much better salmon at lots of places. Maybe it needed more of a sauce or something?? It had the white stuff coming out the sides (Albumin) which made it look unappetizing. Whether a chef can avoid this from happening is a culinary debate. • Gnocchi. WOWOWOW. I’ve never had gnocchi like this in the US. It has changed my life. It melts in your mouth and with ZERO chewiness. This is the closest thing I’ve had to legit gnocchi in Italy. • Asparagus side. Fine. I don’t think they cut enough of the ends so parts of them were really fibrous. • Potatoes. You’ll love them if you love blue cheese lol. • Drinks were good. Nothing too notable. • Ambiance was nice. Low lit. Big tables. Overall, not too bad. I wouldn’t return for anything besides the gnocchi."

"I went to Le French Diner with a friend a few months back and I still think about this gem of a place on a daily basis! We went around 7pm on a Tuesday night and found the place is very small a bar with less than a dozen seats and a few tables not a place for large groups . When you walk in you feel like you are transported back to a small cafe in France! We ordered a bottle of wine, cheese plate, a salad, and shared a raclette and potato entree. Everything here was amazing and came out hot, fresh, and flavorful. I highly recommend coming here for a romantic date night it is walk in only so arrive early or expect a bit of a wait on the weekends."
