"Our first time at the Jobbers Rest. I booked a 3 course meal wine courtesy of a freebie virgin experience and from the moment me OH arrived, we were made welcome. Ordered cheese soufflé with sauce beetroot terrine to start, confit duck dauphinois potatoes French beans carrots trout with brown shrimp potato rösti, then sticky toffee pudding ice cream pistachio soufflé ice cream. Even the house red was very good. Cappuccino’s were good too. All courses were beautifully prepared cooked, especially the pistachio soufflé. The service was as good as in a top class restaurant, attentive but friendly. A special shout out to Lee, our waiter, what an excellent job he’s doing, paying close attention to everything. We’re looking forward to returning very soon. Would really recommend."

"Returned here after the long Covid lock down. Hasn't changed, pretty much the same menu its had for years. Good beer/wine selection. My wife and son started with the crab-stuffed mushrooms. Very good. I started with fried oysters. Very well made, crispy on the outside, soft and juicy inside. My wife had the linguine with shrimp and scallops. Good. Large helping. My son had the rack of lamb. Done as requested (medium rare) and very good. I had the haddock Rockerfeller. Problem here: the haddock was dry, tough and barely warm. Like the fillet had been sitting in a warming oven and then the sauce was just poured over it. Disappointing. Service OK, somewhat slow but to be expected as restaurants get back on line."

"Junction at The Essex never ceases to amaze me with what they bring to the table (pun intended . The presentation is only surpassed by the flavor, including various local cheeses and meats, in addition to countless other gourmet ingredients. As a value inclined diner, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Junction is a bit on the pricier side, but totally worth it. From the day’s amuse bouche to their inspired dessert options, I can’t imagine ever being disappointed by anything here. (I’m updating this review with photos from our most recent meal in sept. 2020, since reopening. One of the best meals we’ve ever had."
