"Barely threw together the sandwich. No sauce until went back to ask. None of the toppings as advertised on menu. None of the drinks ordered until asked. Had an attitude. Lamb was okay and bread was good at least."

"I really like the food here and have had several items from the menu for the past 2 years. However, I visited on Sunday, March 17, 2024 and came across the rudest server in my life. She spoke very little English. I wanted to pay for my meal with a VISA gift card first and tip with cash. She brought the receipt back to me and said very loudly you tip!!! Before I could explain to her that I was tipping with cash she said very loudly, everybody in here tip. you tip too!! I have never in my life had someone demand that I tip. I was a little embarassed because I ALWAYS tip. I spoke to the lady who I thought was the manager and she barely apologized. I am not sure if I will be back."

"Stumbled on this spot having come from the Honfleur Gallery next door. The young lady who runs the restaurant let us sample the Honey Curry and Buffalo wings. My son, the world's pickiest eater, actually enjoyed it! We all got the wings, the Chickpea Mac N Cheese and Collard Greens, as well as the Carrot Cake. Took it home, and my wife, the world's 2nd pickiest eater, also loved it! The carrot cake was great too. Worth the drive to from New Carrollton to Anacostia, but good to know there are closer locations as well. Highly recommend!"

"What a lovely cafe recommended by Eatery. The 10 layered eggplant parm was such a delicious take, well sauced, savory, and sweet one of the best I've had that wasn't homemade. I was excited to try their famous focaccia and was not disappointed, fresh bread and perfect crunch. That and pairing their rainbow cookie with a La Columbe latte with oat milk... It was more than I could ask for. Not to mention friendly service ????"

"I went with a friend for lunch on Sunday in early May and it was a lovely experience. Staff is wonderful warm and welcoming the food was delicious I had eggplant parmesan and it was excellent. I dream about it I'm going to probably order it again!"

"I just had an incredible Indian sandwich. Indian sandwich, you ask? Yes indeed! Before today, I had never even heard of one before, and my coworker Nora had not either. But nevertheless we went with Eric (who himself only just discovered Indian sandwiches a few weeks ago) to test out these innovations at Naan Beyond, a little hole-in-the-wall doing an AWESOME, line-out-the-door lunchtime business, near L St and Connecticut NW in DC. And yes, for these tikka sandwiches, they quite literally fill a fresh, pillowy, chewy, BIG piece of naan bread (the popular Indian flatbread you normally order with Indian curries) with a myriad of addictively delicious ingredients, tandoori style. Everything is marinated in fabulous Indian spices and then skewered and cooked in the large clay Indian oven, the Tandoor. The grilled taste is unbelievable. You can get marinated chicken, lamb, shrimp, paneer (homemade cheese), veggie (zucchini, mushroom, onion and eggplant grilled) or sheesh (shredded beef). I had chicken, which is supposedly marinated overnight – and boy does it taste like it. They were probably the most tender, juicy pieces of skewered chicken I have ever had, with an absolute explosion of amazing Indian herbal flavors. They pack the meat or vegetarian filling in very generously, but also still manage to add some really good accoutrements: a light cabbage slaw and tomatoes for some crunch and tang, and a choice of their hot chutney, mint chutney or mango chutney to drizzle on your sandwich. The chutney (I got mint with my chicken) really put me over the top. Again, flavors were central here with the chutney itself, but even more so in what flavors it was able to bring out in the contents of the sandwich. My one complaint was that I ran out of the chutney before I finished the sandwich and really wanted more for the last third, because each bite was so dreamily tasty. It is food like this that makes me happy, makes a workday go by more enjoyably, even make me want to devote the last 15 minutes of my lunch to telling as many hungry readers as I have where to find an ultimate sandwich and ultimate Indian tastes — all in one $6 sandwich.
