"Lovely setting right along the beach of Penticton. Welcoming service and amazingly diverse menu. Some faults IMO is what most seem like to me, or might as well have been, a mini sesame sourdough loaf cut into 4 slices to go with our flight of 3dips over 30. Which forces you to either purchase another loaf or more pita. We asked for more bread, 6 on our bill. Why not give more bread? I used heaping spoonfuls of dips and there was still dip left after two loaves. Overall the rest of the dishes were delightful, we had the beef tongue donair, special charcoal mackerel, Elma fries and their signature octopus dish. My fav was the octopus. We had two out of the three desserts offered, pavlova with raspberries and lemon; and the crème fraiche with baklava filling and honeycomb bits. Slightly sweeter than I would like but nice flavours in both desserts. It?s really great to see a unique restaurant in the Okanagan that does a really good job executing both the concept of the menu and cooking it. It?s but worth it for special occasions."

"Try saying that 5 times fast! Truly, the Falafal was out of this world! This Turkish restaurant was recommended by a family friend and man, was he right on or what? He is my new restaurant guru and I found the food to be out of sight. My family members, extremely picky foodie types who dislike meat immensely, just love this place and will talk about it for years! Can't wait to go back. Service was polite and location was great. Thank you, Cleopatra, thank you!"

"The Old Aylmer Fruit and Vegetable Cannery in Penticton, built between 1936 and 1948, is a large industrial complex located on Fairview Road. The cannery played an important role in the economy, the evolution of the canning industry in BC, and the development of labour practices in Penticton from 1948 to 1982. Once, its daily whistle, heard all over Penticton, used to sound the beginning and end of the work day. The Old Aylmer Cannery was converted in the early 1980's into a commercial trade centre.A friend of ours suggested we go for lunch in one of the centre's restaurants, the Nest & Nectar which just opened last year. Not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised. As you enter the restaurant, located on the North side of the Trade Centre, you are greeted with the friendly smiles of the owners. You walk into a spacious place; simple furniture and décor with a sky lighted area in the back. Exhibited all over the walls of the restaurant are paintings by several local artists; some of which are actually quite good. You also can see towards the back of the restaurant, on the right, the entrance to the "Many Hats Theatre", which I will tell you about in a minute.We sat at a nice table near the theatre entrance door. The cheerful lady owner, who greeted us at the entrance, offered us a limited but sophisticated menu. All three of us, ordered different "Artisan Sandwiches" with a beet salad on the side. After we ordered, I asked if I can have some tea. The lady offered me an extensive loose tea menu. I chose nothing less than the "Buckingham Palace Garden party" and what a delightful tea it was! The orders arrived, quite substantial and rich that I thought there was no way we could finish it. But we did! It was delicious, fresh, simple and very well prepared. The only disappointment was that the dessert chef was away that day and no desserts [which are prepared fresh every day] were available. However, this was a good excuse for scheduling another visit to the Nest & Nectar.During the theatre season, the restaurant offers the theatre goers a special buffet which I am sure is exquisite. The "Many Hats Theatre", that opened in 2007 and has some very good talents, is right next door; in fact you can, after dinner, enter the theatre through the door I mentioned before. In addition, the restaurant offers a fantastic brunch buffet on the weekends. I have not tried that yet, but intend to do so soon and report to you about it. If you still have some time after lunch, you may want to walk through the Trade Centre. It has some 30 shops, some are quite interesting like the "McPhail Kilt Makers", where you can have kilts made to order. There is also a "Cerebellum Counselling" service office where you can get office, telephone or email counselling "to help individuals uncover and deal with emotions at difficult times". You can also see some of the remaining equipment of the famous "Cannery Brewery" which was housed in the trade centre from 2000 t 2015.I hope you will have time to visit the centre and enjoy lunch or dinner at the Nest & Nectar restaurant. Don't wait for my report on the breakfast brunch, I am sure you will love it. Have a great time."

"First time at the cafe and had a great experience watching two of the best guitar players you are ever likely to see. Pagat and Garcia were fabulous and clearly having fun entertaining a full house. Did I mention the food (tapas) and service was great and reasonably priced?If you appreciate good music, this place is for you."
