"Abren a las 9 de la mañana, te sirven un chocolate calientito bueno tibia que para mi gusto esta mas que bien y una pieza del tradicional pan de yema enorme, y sopeado con tu chocolate súper rico. Prueben los tamales oaxaqueños, las enchiladas. Bueno todo esta exquisito. Muy recomendable y a buen precio."

"Quaint little artsy courtyard, off of the street noise. But, I ordered a big cappuccino and got a messy small one, an omelette without chapulines, but they were hiding in there alright. Service very slow for average food."

"My boyfriend and I took the cooking class towards the end of our week in Oaxaca and we wished we'd done it at the start. We discussed with Jose what we wanted to learn over a delicious cactus based slushy. We were then whisked through the Benito Juarez Market to buy our ingredients, with Jose explaining what everything was and getting us to try a little bit of everything.We then went to a mezcal bar where a true guru of all things mezcal (a shelf was filled with books he wrote on the subject) talked us through a great tasting session.When we got back to the restaurant Jose's kitchen staff had prepped everything ready for us to start cooking. We had chosen to make a salsa rojo, salsa verde, chicken enchiladas with almond mole, Oaxacan cheese in leaves, mango water and a small chocolate drink for dessert.We did everything by hand, learning authentic techniques and recipes and the final result was one of the most incredible meals we've ever had.I can't recommend the class highly enough. Jose is really friendly and his passion for cooking, Oaxaca and the food he was brought up on really shines through. It was a pleasure to learn how to cook this wonderful food from such a great chef."

"We stumbled on this place that is on the market benito juarez. the hotel is about a block from the center of the city of zocalo we had excellent food. we had the cream of the sweet soup (cremas de verduras) and it was excellent. Then...for the main course I had roasted pork in a mild green sauce (carne de puerco en salsa verde) and my wife had the enchilada verdes (enchiladas in green sauce). both were excellent and very fillable. all that was washed with a beer each. total cost slightly less than $10usd. so good, or better) than the tourist places and much cheaper."

"I stayed in Oaxaca for a month by myself learning Spanish and this small, friendly restaurant was a godsend. It quickly became my go-to place. They have the best pizza! My favorite was setas, arugala and goat cheese. The size is perfect for one person....Their salads and pastas are also good with very reasonable prices. It is a little off the beaten path, but well worth it. I walked from Xochimilco the walk back through el parque de llano is always pleasant."
