"On our recent trip to Cairns I was eager to dine at Bellocale as this venue had been a highlight of our holidays in 2019. After a very disappointing Calamari entree we waited ages for our mains. When they arrived my partner's seafood risotto was...topped with five cold mussel shells and the contents of the 2 empty ones could not be found in the dish. I ordered the veal with mushrooms but the mushroom sauce tended to overpower the flavour of the veal that was served on potato mash that looked stale and unappetising."

"What a delightful place. I had the very nicest coffee of the year. It was, my favourite, a macchiato, but in a slightly larger glass than usual. The coffee was strong without being bitter. The service was excellent and the lads were good fun. There...is a fair selection of food and other drinks, but coffee is their thing. They have wi-fi so you can catch up on emails etc. If you want a more substantial meal try their restaurant, Chambers Restaurant and Bar. It looks most attractive, all fitted with plants and a pleasant interior."

"I was disappointed when I had dinner here during my stay at the doubletree Hilton. As expected the prices are reasonably high here. Unfortunately the experience didn 't meet expectations. The first issue was an exceptionally dirty glass on my table. I ordered the fish and...chips with pea puree from the menu. The dish arrived about 15 minutes later. Unfortunately there was no pea puree. I asked the waiter. His response Are you sure. It is usually on the bottom . He came and checked my plate, as if I was blind or lying. Once he was sure there was no pea puree he went into the kitchen and asked the chef for the puree. It came out a few minutes later. I then noticed that there was crusty dry food on the fork on my table so I asked for a new one. Once I finished my meal I ordered the chocolate brownie for dessert. The brownie came out a few minutes later, stone cold from the fridge. I asked the waiter why it wasn 't warm. His reply it doesn 't specify warm on the menu . Honestly, anywhere in the world I 've been and ordered a brownie it has always been warm. I asked them to heat it up and send it to my room as I had had enough of the restaurant. The food and beverage supervisor offered to comp my main meal and drinks due to the issue. He must have been new because he seemed to be asking the waiter how to remove things from the point of sale system. Overall. The experience at the restaurant was mediocre at best. Quality control was lacking from the chef checking the food before it went iut as well at the waiters setting the table."
