"We had great service and very kind caring wait staff. The food was spot on, with thin pasta and seasoned to perfection without any over powering themes and reminded me of the food I had when in Italy. This place has a limited menu, but each item they have is one that they do with proper cooking and seasoning. The desserts are to die for and the price really was not bad. I definitely will go back there again and again. It is best to reserve ahead though as this gem has a great following and fill quickly."

"One of a couple of good places for gelato in Ottawa, it ain't cheap but the gelato is to die for, almost as good as in Italy, yes I tried it while down there.You can have alcoholic beverages as well, I will recommend this place to people in the little Italy area."

"Called and was sure that they will be able to do a gluten-free meal - just to let the server know. The server was friendly and explained that most sauces were already gf and that they had gf Fliesuccine to go with it, or if I wanted a meat dish to cook it without the flour coating (potatoes and veg on the side are gf already). I ordered the Carbonara and it was delicious! And no reaction the next day. Come back!"

"Went here last weekend for dinner with a group of six. The food was great but the service really ruined it. minutes to take a drink order, no bread (even though tables right beside us got it), never refilled our water, never asked how...our meal was. It took us over hours to get in and out. They were relatively busy but they were not understaffed. At one point one of the staff took the time to wipe down every single one of the liquor bottles but they couldn't meet the most basic standard of service. Seems to be very poorly managed. Too bad because the food is good."

"It's been a while since we dined at Al's and it was nice to see it had been renovated. Our staff were friendly and attentive and the food was good. The escargot arrived nice and hot with a nice layer of cheese on top; the rolls were warm and fresh. For the main course the 6 oz. filet was chosen and it was a bit under cooked - I asked for medium rare but t was a little on the rare side. The accompanying salad was nice and fresh and Al's salad dressing is always a hit with me. Will definitely go back."
