"Perched atop the Monchsberg mountain, the Gasthaus Stadtalm Cafe offered us a panoramic view of Salzburg. A local friend had called ahead to arrange for a table but was told that the restaurant was booked full. We decided to proceed up the hill by foot...and elevator to at least see the sights from above. As luck would have it when we wound our way around the fortifications to the Stadtalm, a table was just opening and we were seated. Although others in our party ordered more traditional Austrian meals, we ordered mushroom omelettes with side salads and chilled white wine. Enjoying brunch high above Salzburg was a delight, and the views were spectacular. We even saw paragliders on the far side of the city!"

"Been here several times. Food has always been fresh ingredients, masterfully prepared and nice presented. Because it looks like a tavern should be interpreted as a sports bar... it isn't, and if you so acr, they won't treat you too well. Prices are moderate for where you are...the most expensive place in Austria, right in the heart of Salzburg. Great place if you have foolishly missed making a rezervation for the commonly owned Goldener Hirsch."

"Immer einen Besuch wert. Bodenständige Hausmannskost. Über Schweinsbraten, Schnitzel bis zum Mc Hosei und zum Abschluss eine Cremeschnitte ein Genuss. Da nicht die ganze Woche geöffnet ist sollte man am Abend reservieren."

"We have been here as start for a weekend with friends in Salzburg and had an amazing dinner ! The beer is fantastic (I like the Goldbräu most) and the food is the best I've had for a long time ! I like the location... atmosphere in the traditional yet well-in-shape buildings. Don't want to write too much more: I loved it !"
