"Have been to Los Magueyes on Gulf to Lake Highway several times, but always for lunch. Our lunches there in the past were good. Our adult son was visiting so we went for dinner for the first time. It was a Monday night about 6 pm and the place was very crowded. First thing we noticed was the disrepair of the porch and railings outside rotted and falling apart. The booth we were given had the seat held together with massive quantities of duct tape. Food took a long time to arrive and all three of our orders didn't arrive at the same time. Two orders were good but my Camerones Maguey (shrimp with spinach, onions and broccoli) was just awful. I have had this a number of times at lunch and it was good in the past. The shrimp was all burned on one side and the chef turned that side down in an effort to hide it. The onions were burned black and whole thing was swimming in grease instead of the tasty sauce its supposed to have. I tried to eat some because mine was the last entree out and the others' food was getting cold waiting for me. Finally complained and they offered to make a new one but, by that time, I was so turned off and the others had finished their food so I declined. They did take the entree off the bill but that didn't make up for a really bad dinner experience. Stopped at the restroom before leaving and it was filthy. Had indigestion all night afterwards. Such a shame. We liked this restaurant but it is now so run down and dirty and, after this meal, we will not be back."

"Sabre did a fantastic job with our large group. She is respectful, helpful, direct and attentive. Thank you! The things I didn't enjoy... The smell of urine when walking in. The bathroom was terribly filthy and no TP in at least one stall. All the doors are disgusting. Floors...don't ask. But one of my friends forewarned the group because she almost slipped. I understand it's a bar; oh, I mean a steak house. ??? So, serve prime rib you are proud of the first time, and accept it back with grace when it can't be sliced thru with a steak knife. Provide a better slice the second time around... For some folks, it's a big deal to go out to eat. It's a celebration or an event, it's special. It's an experience. I see took for improvement... Or just be happy that people like visiting to drink all times of the day, and the food helps them get home safe. Pretty bad overall. Not interested in going back, not are my 11 other friends."
