"We turned up at the hotel only to be told that they could not find our booking which I had made on the telephone some days in advance. I was worried that they would turn us away but the lady on reception was most hospitable and worked quickly to explain the format for the evening and to find us a table. The restaurant was lively and busy with guests but the staff were most welcoming and looked after us with exceptional care and attention. We thought the menu for the evening was rather over priced at 135 euros per person and were expecting something more exciting than we were given. The menu was a strange mixture of different tastes and thankfully not Savoyade, as cheese and ham can get very repetiitve. But the food was cold and tasteless and I felt as if the pudding had been thrown together at the last moment because we were extra to their original numbers. The wines were excellent and the champagne included in the price was good.There was a disco in the bar once the meal had been completed but after one dance the DJ seemed to have no idea what sort of audience he was catering for and we left shortly after midnight. I would recommend the hotel food because we have eaten here before and it is different from the usual run of the mill restaurants in Chatel. The staff are also delightful and caring. We will not however be returning for the New Years Eve dinner in the future as it was very over priced."
