"There are plenty of decent restaurants in Cherbourg but this is NOT one of them! Avoid like the plague cos it will ruin your evening To sit outside was our first mistake: ridiculously uncomfortable chairs and a table which rocked uncontrollably they all did...so moving was no answer) Then they thoughtlessly put their stinking bins out ,about 5 metres away from us .But these were mere trifles compared with the food when it eventually came,an eternity later ,and was poor to awful at each stage : i had two house specialities : so called hot oysters which were tepid and were drowned in a taste obliterating green sludge of a sauce ; and profiteroles which are supposed to be light and fluffy but which were greaseballs stuffed with cheap icecream and Chantilly cream from a supermarket can. In between i had ordered that noble fish John Dory which turned out to be two fish fingers ,tepid again ,tho this time served on a red hot dish .I wont go though the disasters suffered by my wife on the cheaper €28 menu : we just could not wait to get out and tell the public this is not the place to be on a Friday night"

"Discovered by chance because the base restaurant was closed, we made a great discovery with Theo Grill. A comfortable restaurant with ptite fireplace, a shy reception at the beginning but finally very friendly. The meat is cooked with wood fire in front of you to perfection and is of very good quality. homemade fries are also delicious, just like camembert sauce. The tea cup and the chocolate cast have closed the meal with brio. We have been celebrating and we will return with certainty. Thank you. Small advice: book"

"Lorsque je me rends à Cherbourg, je vais déjeuner très souvent au Café du Théâtre, comme ce midi encore. Je ne suis jamais déçue. Je prends en général le menu du jour (qui est d'un prix correct). Ils ont un cuisinier hors pair. Tout est bien cuisiné, le moindre légume est goûtu à souhait. La présentation est étudiée, bref, ne pas hésiter à y aller. J'ai du mal à comprendre les notes négatives de certains, très bizarre."

"Great fish restaurant at the port. We ordered fresh oysters as a duck and then dined to a mixture of a' la carte and menu choices. Everything was served with care and well presented. The portions were good for us and the table wine....The meal for 2 came to about 75 euros. The service was similar and attentive. No complaints. People obviously come for fish and food quality as customers seemed to be a mix of local and fine food loving tourists."
