"Located in the heart of the Old Town is Atlstadt Restaurant, a very traditional German restaurant I always look forward to visiting on any trip to Dusseldorf I take. I love the look of this restaurant, a superb interior, great decor and furnishings including a...cool looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this restaurant and as an added bonus it was beautifully decked out for the Christmas period. We were here on a Sunday night, we were shown to a table for two were a very pleasant member of staff served us a Schlösser Altbier each while we checked out the menu, the beers were excellent, Dusseldorf is justifiably famous for its amazing range of Altbier's and Schlösser Altbier is one of my favourites, a dark,malty beer bursting with taste,very easy to drink indeed. For our meal we both opted to have wurst,mashed potatoes and cabbage,after a shortish wait our meals arrived and what a great treat,3 types of sausage which were so tasty,potatoes were fantastic and the cabbage just perfect,the mustard served here was also so good ,all in all a really good meal. We moved on after our delicious meal and beers and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. Altstadt Restaurant is easy to locate along Berger Straße, a street and area teeming with pubs,bars and restaurants and some amazing architecture and a major tourist destination. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 11.30am till 11.30pm. A great restaurant, well worth checking out if your in the area."

"As this was the nearest restaurant to our hotel and the menu looked reasonable, we opted for convenience without checking the reviews. This was a mistake! The antipasto misto was only vaguely related to anything I've eaten in Italy, and the pizza was, at best, indifferent. Nonetheless I think we would have been just about content if the drinks had been OK. However the spritz was small and watery, and the glass of house red wine was so dreadful we had to send it back. The replacement was not much better, so my advice has to be to avoid the house wine. The only problem with that is that all the bottles were expensive - perhaps beer would be a better alternative? The only saving grace we could find was the friendly and reasonably efficient service, but this establishment does not offer value for money. We did not return."

"The food is more German than Italian, and could have been more tasty. We were a large party of 28 people and unfortunately we had to wait 1, 5 hours for main course. But on the other hand, the staff was very nice."
