"Squeezed in .. last table by kitchen.... amazing to watch the professionals at work! The food was delicious, plat du jour fantastic value, filled with locals. Loved the atmosphere....we stayed for lunch and saw the pace adapt once mania subsided....get there early but if you want to appreciate what is going on behind the scenes go inside! Loved it!"

"C'est bien dommage, la carte s'annonce, elle est très restreinte, super des produits frais, nous sommes une dizaine, nous attendrons plus d'une heure et demi pour nous faire servir, la serveuse nous apporte tout sauf ce que l'on a commandé...C'est vraiment dommage dans le sens où l'on a faire a des produits de qualités! Rien à redire sur l'assiette hors mis des quantités légère pour les gros mangeurs.Quand on dessert ils n'ont quasiment plus rien à nous proposer ... nous partons pour régler, le serveur oublis 2 coca sur la carte, il nous demande une seconde carte.. le geste commerçant n'existe pas chez eux!"

"Saumur is such a beautiful place and on a warm summer evening the atmosphere in the main square which houses many restaurants is fabulous. This was our third visit to Tontons on each on last 3 trips to France. The menu is a mix of a fairly simple à la carte with some specials that can be mixed and matched. We were very fortunate to get an outside table having just turned up unannounced. We each had 3 courses and all the food was excellent. The wine was excellent too and I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Saumur."

"12,80€ got us a buffet of starters with an assortment of salads, followed by a plat du jour, cheese and dessert. We came on a Monday and the main courses on offer were either filet mignon, andouillette or lasagne. Wine is also included in the price.Service was incredibly prompt, friendly and accommodating to special requests. The food was nothing fancy but simple, honest home-style fare that hit the spot.Come here for something truly authentic and none of the touristy dining."
