"We ended up dinning in this restaurant after finding our favorite closed. We were not disappointed at all but rather very pleased. It's a small busy place. The service was good. But the food was excellent. It was the best Persian we ever had."

"OK, when I see Americans from Florida, Texas, Alaska etc. go goo-goo gah-gah over stuff like this, I know that I'm in trouble. Really? This is rated in the 70s out of all the Chinese restaurants in the city of Vancouver? Really? I'm sorry, but there is nothing authentic about this. No flavour, no delicacies, marginal service. High carb, high fat, high MSG, unrecognizable Chinese food. This is purely Chinese-American at its very worst, on every level. Why cross the country just eat the same crappy Chinese food you eat back in the Carolinas? Well it is cheap, that's probably a major factor for a lot of these US reviewers. That seems to come up a lot in their reviews. Is it cheap? Well yes, Shanghai Chinese Bistro is cheap--cheap quality, cheap atmosphere and cheap service. The Chinese posters have it right. This is Chinese-American dog food, inho, not high-quality Chinese-Canadian cuisine. There isn't anything like this garbage in Shanghai, I can tell you that."

"A wonderful feast for tastes and all senses! This cozy, stylish place is filled with indige art and music and has a fully authentic indigenous menu with local ingredients (yes, even the wine list! . Service is impeccable and the fare is elegant and tasty. We had roasted the bannock with mushrooms as an opener, and Elchwurst wildly caught salmonfiss and rice for the main. Sage-infused blueberries showed prominent and raised the game and bright local veg perfectly. Perfect unique place for a date. Will visit again!"

"Pleasant dining experience, our chef, I believe his name was James went out of his way to make this an entertaining evening. I had filet mignon and my husband had chicken teriyaki, my steak was good but the chicken was probably the best I've tasted in any Teppanyaki restaurant , it was moist and flavourful. Sides were fresh and plentiful. Soup and salad to start were a little bland but this was a minor thing, overall I would certainly recommend this restaurant."

"Visited this restaurant on the referral of a business located on the same street. We were greeted by the owner & shown the type of personal service rarely seen in restaurants today. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left, the experience was truly unforgettable. The food was a type of culinary experience that causes you to actually pause for a minute after you taste it....fantastic. Our server was Enzo, a classic Italian gentleman (part of the restaurant for 30 yrs )who made my girlfriend feel like she was the most beautiful girl in the world. A refreshing change back to the old school ways."

"This is one of our go-to restaurants for family gatherings 8-10 people or more. We have been coming here for several years and know the current and previous owners well. Having been here so often, we tend to order many of the same dishes...every time we have a large gathering, since it's not every time that we can order such a large variety of dishes. It's difficult to order too many dishes when it's just my wife and myself coming here. Our favourite dishes include the House special shredded chicken for appetizer, fish soup, lettuce wrap with diced pork or duck filling, Peking Duck, squab, sweet and sour pork, deep fried stuffed bean curd, stir fried pea tips, and tapioca pudding for dessert. We have found the food to be consistently good. It does get very crowded on the weekends, especially for dinner. So, reservation is a must whether for a small or large group. Service does tend to be a bit slower when it gets crowded, but not annoyingly slower. It's generally a happy time when we gather, so we have lots to chat about while waiting for the food. For special occasions such as New Year's dinner, they have extra staff. Even though it does get full, I found that I am able to carry out a conversation across the table without having to yell. One of the few Chinese restaurants where I can do that."
