"Classic English manor pub style and atmosphere, but with a menu interpretation from the 21st century, which definitely impresses. we visited the 2021 euro final, and regardless of the result, the drinks and experience were very good. the order on their phone makes for seamless rounding of drinks and eating, and the eating and drinks themselves are exactly what they want. as a vegan I was really impressed by the banana blossom chips with how close it is to fish. the appetizer of the allotment is a great vegan starter with amazing hummus, falafel and veg."

"Food was not hot, and the breakfast not as advertised as what you would receive on the poster. No drink included for my son other than tea or coffee so we had to pay £1.75 for a small bottle of orange juice, and the coffee was absolutely awful Seriously unimpressed wished we had not bothered to be honest"

"Amazing quality, queue out the door says it for its self. The chips were fabulous, you can tell they clean their oil as they were so beautifully cooked. Fish was stunning So quick and efficiently even when busy. Always consistent."

"It was just great to get back to a favourite venue for lunch. We had not been out for lunch more than a couple of times since the start of the lockdown and decided on the spur of the moment to go for a lunch...at the Battle Axes. Spacious car park which is always a plus. Warm welcome from Amanda. We hadn’t booked but she found us a table. Drinks were served and after a look at the extensive menu we were soon served. We both enjoyed our meal. It was good to be back and felt like visiting dear friends. Coffee was good. Toilet was spotless. All together a good visit back at last to a favourite pub. Thank you Amanda. Hope to see you again very soon."
