"For over 12 years, the Sun Inn has been our favorite restaurant in the Edinburgh area. The food was always something a wee bit special. Unfortunately, last nite was not the case. There’s been a significant change in the menu, and not for the better. My partner and I had the soup, which to be honest was good. However my Daughter had the crispy cauliflower which was a complete disaster. From then on it went downhill, two of us had the steak pie, Fray Bentos make better! I’ll stress that we had no issues with the waiting staff, and I felt guilty having to voice my concerns about our experience. We only had four alcoholic drinks, three starters, and three mains. The bill after deductions was still £129! In essence a complete disaster, and having read other recent reviews on here, there does seem to be “issues.” My partner and Daughter have always raved The Sun Inn, and I’m gutted having to write this review…….."

"Was here for a family catch up over a brunch and interior looked good after the recent refurbishment. High chairs and colouring books crayons etc are available for younger guests diners to keep them amused and entertained. This initially encouraging view was then let down a little after the orders were taken. Wrong incorrect drinks were brought or were left sitting on the coffee maker, having seemingly been forgotten about until gently reminded. Some of the food was also incorrect as well despite a different version being specifically ordered requested and had to be returned to the kitchen to be re-done. Most of these issues would be seemingly straightforward to resolve, but was disappointing on a first visit after several years that would make me think twice about a return."

"Excellent food and service. We have been visiting Edinburgh for the last 16 years and found this restaurant about 4 years ago. We always stay at the Premier Inn here primarily for the food and service we always receive at Esk Valley Table Table. The food is always well cooked and hot. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Our Edinburgh family always join us for dinner as the menu choices are excellent and you just can't beat the food."

"Amazing eating and the perfect sequence to visit the rosslyn capsule. go before an appetit, as the portions are very generous. we had the smoked laughs and the chicken paws as our appetizers and followed that with the steak pee and the steak and tumble sandwich for our net (many circumcisions also everything was perfectly cooked, especially the steak, not complain at all. service was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I'm sorry, no photos, we attacked eating as soon as it arrived."
