"Excellent place to visit while on a holiday, with family or friends. Two nearby parking spaces available with parking ticket at very low rates. Well maintained environment. The only thing I found missing is the boats to carry us to the island when then pathway is not the option for cars."

"Was just here, took the old mother to lunch. she was met by friendly staff who took mums strollers, at the door and secured her. I had cajau, very tasty, woman had fishing finger Sarnie chips, beautiful white flocty fish mum had senior small fish chips that need to say was still considerable size part. would definitely recommend to visit again."

"They do GF fish and chips as they have a separate fryer. However as I discovered one rainy bank holiday Monday after waiting in the queue for a good 15 mins they don’t serve GF on bank holidays as they used the other fryer, so if you want GF fish and chips on a bank holiday you won’t get them."

"The place is always empty and that's for a very good reason: it's overpriced. As an example, a main with a side plus a dessert cost me £25.50. And I didn't go for the most expensive options! The food is not bad, but the options are very limited. I had to eat there during a whole week and I got tired of it. I ordered pasta dishes in three different occasions and they pretty much had the same taste. I only tried one of the starters and it was very good. The three sides I tried were very bland. But the deserts were tasty. Moreover, there are almost no options for vegetarians which is quite surprising at this age and in this country. A positive thing are the waiters, which are very young people who really try their best to be friendly and offer a good service, even though they aren't exactly the most experienced. In short, do not go there unless someone else pays for the meal."

"This is the best fish and chips around and the staff here are so friendly. had chips and curry sauce with batter bits and it was absolutely delicious and deserves after a few beers in the night before! worth visiting when they are in tynemouth. Thank you!"

"Where to start! Not a soul in the Gibraltar Rock this evening and we were the only table. The waitress was impatient and kept wandering off when we were trying to decide what we’d like. Myself and my year old daughter had a carvery...and chose turkey. The turkey was so off it smelled exactly like dog poo (which my daughter pointed out) and she was entirely accurate; and to be honest we noticed this a few mouthfuls in. It smelled SO bad that it was hard to keep the food we’d eaten down. When we addressed this, the waitress whisked it away without a word, or an apology and emerged a minute later from the kitchen agreeing it was totally off. They then picked up the whole turkey and put it in the bin in front of us. We sat there horrified. We were nonchalantly asked what else we’d like to eat with no word of an apology, or query as to how we might be feeling after the hazardous turkey. Then the waitress decided to waltz off while we deciding if we could even stomach anything else. We sat there in disbelief at the whole thing! When approached, the waitress became snappy and argumentative and said we didn’t give her long enough to offer us an apology. She shouted about working there for many years and that she knew best. She didn’t back down and became very rude. Never experienced anything like this in any restaurant- anywhere! We all decided to leave. Gibraltar was always basic and food accordingly so- but this is a new low for them."

"Called in the cafe for fish and chip special deal with tea bread and butter and mushey peas for two served by very pleasant staff. the portions were good along with food .....but,in I didnt expect to be served fish with skin on...!! it must be the only chippy in Tyneside who does it,sorry it spoilt our visit and will not be back"
