"We've just bought a caravan and left it in Robin Hood, which isn't far from Slingsby and Smithy Arms. Brilliant! We've decided to watch Nina B and her guitarist! It's absolutely amazing voice Nina has, and even guitarists can sing as well. My shandy was tastier. We also booked in for Sunday lunch and have to say it was absolutely delicious and the toffee pudding too. The starter menu could improve much more, such as prawn cocktails and garlic mushrooms, which are popular in restaurants and pubs. Teams are so friendly, and making us welcome and we always visit the locals and support them."

"Well what a lovely stay we had, checked into the White Horse after visiting York, we were given the warmest welcome by John and Dawn. After we were settled into our lovely room Rose room) which was really comfortable and cosy, especially the super...king bed, we wondered down to the bar and restaurant for an evening meal. Again we were greeted by the friendly hosts and even the regulars made us feel welcome. Food was not a disappointment either yummy). Amazing nights sleep followed and then a great breakfast. Thanks again John and Dawn could not fault a thing."

"We stayed for one night in the new build and the room was clean and spacious . The location was incredible . The pub stood at the head of the village with uninterrupted views . The food served was home cooked and locally sourced . The portions were very generous and the staff were very kind and so polite . Great location for the North York Moors. Would not hesitate to recommend . However , one tiny criticism would be that there should be blinds on the new rooms I did feel a little exposed . But I’m sure this can be considered ?"

"Our first visit here, and our first inside dining experience after lockdown, and it exceeded our expectations. What a fabulous place. The weather was awful, but I imagine on a lovely day with the bifolds open, it would be even more stunning. The service and...food were both excellent. We had asparagus, avocado and beetroot starters between us; and fish chips, a steak, fish pie and the slow cooked beef as mains. portions of the crumble for afters. This place is a gem, and even though it’s a bit of a trek for us to visit: it’s well worth it."

"Immersed in the chance to get a table for an evening meal. the bar staff was very friendly and courteous and brought a bowl of water for our dog. we both ordered starters who were plentiful, hot of good quality, both had served the piece of the day (play) with chips veg, which was again plentiful, hot of good quality. would definitely recommend pre-book as was busy."

"Every year we come to the east coast on holiday and people have always rated fish and chips from whitby. I can honestly say the fish tacos and fish and chips we have just eaten from Thornton Dale Fisheries beat anything from Whitby or anything in the area hands down. Everything cooked to order. It may be a little wait but the quality and taste of food is exceptional. I can not recommend the Thornton Dale Fisheries enough. If you are in the area and love your fish and chips, you have to eat here. You won't be disappointed.
