"This is not a Greene King pub as advertised on the board at the front of the hotel/website. The room we had been allocated was dark, had a leaking toilet, a blind that didn't close and no curtains. This wasn't the main problem though: we weren't told until after we'd checked in that the pub facilities weren't available because of a large private party, meaning we had to find alternative arrangements at the very last minute. The management were not helpful. Only giving it one star as I can't give it no stars!"

"I don't often write reviews , and rarely write one a month after staying at a hotel, but remembered this morning what a great stay we had at the Hodgkinsons Hotel. The hotel is stacked with character which helps to provide a detachment from the hustle and bustle of life to help you relax and rewind .... just what me and Vickie needed. Chris and Zoe are wonderful hosts , friendly, welcoming and interesting too. Nothing was too much trouble (not that there was any). We had dinner in the restaurant and it was superb, compliments to the chef !! and the breakfast was cracking, setting us up nicely for a day in the peak district. if you are looking for a hotel with character and charm , great service and cracking food ..... you can't go far wrong We'll definitely be returning Si Vickie"
