"Always a warm welcome we usually book a table as we wouldn't want to be disappointed. Service fast and efficient ordering food is simple plenty of choice and reasonable price. Foodpresentedwell. "I have been staying here for well over a year and can honestly say, I can not complain about this hotel in any way at all. The rooms are very well appointed, clean, fresh and have all the facilities you require, either in the rooms, or available at the reception. Jo, Tayah, Anna, Emily, Carol, George, Mat, Dan and co always go to eleven tenths to make you feel welcome! Nothing is too much trouble!! They work so ridiculously hard behind the scenes, to make this place so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, they don't deserve some of the comments the uneducated, illiterate, Four in a Bed watching lowlife leave on these review sites, in the hope of getting a refund, a discount or free return night. Well, we the decent folk who chose to stay here, can see right through you! I've been unfortunate to meet some of you personally too, moaning about having to wait 30 seconds before being served... Really?? Are you so desperate for your next drink?? If it were my hotel, you would be ejected with a flea in your ear and a boot up your bum!! I travel down twice a month or so to work in Newport over the weekends and after a 3 hour drive, I am always made to feel welcome, as it feels like a home from home!! The locals have welcomed me into their social group with open arms! That's a rarity these days! Keep up the brilliant work you all do; I, and my two little mischievous companions that travel with me, all love what you do!! Keep smiling and doing what you do best, making people feel very welcome!"

"My friends and I were on the final day of a 63 day walk around the Welsh coast to raise money for Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice. Needing to start our last day’s walk from Redwick, we asked permission of the landlady to leave our vehicle...in the pub car park. She graciously gave her permission without hesitation. As we were walking through the car park an irate man approached us and asked what we were doing. I explained that we had permission from the landlady to park there. He responded, quite rudely, that he was the landlord, and as we were not customers we needed to move. Congratulations, sir! You’ve won the prize for the rudest, most objectionable man we encountered in 9 weeks travel around Wales. It takes a special sort of person to make life difficult for those trying to raise money for sick children."

"Great find! Staff are lovely and the food was delicious. Not a huge menu but too much choice can be a bad thing. Great little touches and interesting pairings. Someone knows how to cook! Made a great stop off travelling to MIL. We will be back!"

"Service was very poor, with a lack of staff for the volume of customers. The Abbot ale was awful and got worse as the evening progressed, so much so that I had to change to bottled beer. The pub in general could do with a good clean!"
