"This was really one of the most incredible meal times I've ever had the pleasure of consumption. I couldn't be happy anymore. my expectations have been exceeded! I loved it! I'm not gonna get it until the day I leave. I will also leave this earth, while I enjoy the last bite of eating that I had here. the service was also immaculate! 5 stars? try 10 million stars! many thanks! if it wasn't obvious, they should go here and enjoy the amazing experience they create"

"Fresh Clam Chowder We tried Clam Chowder at 3 locations in Newport. Mo's was just fine. Too thick and a floury taste. Not enough shells. Not enough to season #2. Chowder Bowl was much better than Mo's. Not as thick as Mo's with more shells and rich taste. #1. South Beach Fish Market was hands down our favorites. Rich taste, not super thick, enough potatoes and LOTS of shells. We will probably start a one month trip from McMinnville to get crabs and chowder."

"Excellent from all angles. Wanted a nice meal for a day trip style date and got exactly that. Was able to get a table out on their deck which is literally on the bay which provided us front row seats to the goofy show the sea lions were putting on while they lounged in the sun on the pier. We were disappointed after visiting the Sea Lion caves recently and not seeing a single Sea Lion so this was an added bonus! Good selection of beer/cider, outstanding appetizers, (The mushroom risotto balls are the bees knees! and the food was great. Service staff does a really good job of being there right when you want them and no more than that. Drinks never got less than half full. It's clear why this restaurant got voted the best waterfront dining on the Oregon Coast and the best restaurant in Newport. Will be returning! *Walk-ins are welcome but reservations are recommended. I've tried and failed twice before to eat here without a reservation for dinner. Lunch is a little easier to get a spot if you don't have reservations."

"My wife and I live on Cape Cod, and we're traveling almost two hours to bog, because we just can't find any better seafood anywhere on Cape Cod. I don't know what secret thing they do to make their lobster so tasty, but this is one of the things that makes us come back. We give the Mooring five stars for food, service and atmosphere. And relatively speaking, the prices are not bad for a high-end restaurant. For our last visit to 23rd March I had lobster and my wife had the yellow tuna, and both were perfect. We had the cheesecake with black cherries and crushed pistachios, and that was to die. The staff was great as usual, and our server Pedro was wonderful. There are many great restaurants in Newport, but the mooring has been our favorite for many years."

"Very good food, great portion size, pricey (but you pay for location). Loved the lobster roll and lobster and corn fritters. Clam chowder was nothing special. Very attentive and super polite waitstaff. Will definitely go back!"

"First visit to Newport from Hartford area. We ran into a nice women who recommended Scales Shells when we stopped for lunch in Putnam. She said it is her favorite restaurant in the world (and it sounded like she had done a lot of traveling). So we had to try it. Absolutely the right decision! The food was fantastic! I had the swordfish special of the evening and my wife ,who doesn’t care for seafood, had the pasta primavera. Both dishes were excellent! The waiter was a young man but very knowledgeable about the menu and his service was top rate. I highly recommend Scales Shells!"
