"Cannot praise this ace highly enough. Lis and Ian are the perfect hosts and always make you feel very welcome. It has a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Love the autumn/winter months with the fire burning. Absolute wee gem in the town. Vegetarian options: The kitchen staff are very helpful and will always try and rustle up something delicious if the veg options on the menu don't apeal to you. Kid-friendliness: They are so welcoming to families and children."

"Beautiful place for a meal, I was a few times and always have a nice meal and they change the menu regularly, so there is much to choose! mandy and staff are very friendly and nothing is a problem for them. If they have not yet been, I would highly recommend the black bull ."

"Delicious, consistently good food. I am a bit of a steak aficionado and the ribeye was clear good quality meat, well prepared and cooked after my specifications. bang on, ad was the pfeffersoße! very good. with regard to customer support, the entire staff team was obviously well trained, attentive, courteous and discerning, which is very appreciated in view of the vulnerability of our party. also great environment/decor and ambiente. this was only our second visit, but probably a regular hunt (30th oct). thanks for giving us another great culinary experience and the great waiting team"

"For such a beautiful spot this was extremely disappointing. I went here for a solo cycle ride and was stunned by the beauty of this location. The cafe itself looks exactly like you would expect to find at a place like this, almost out of time. Very quaint. I couldn’t see a menu outside listing a menu and prices, there may be one but I didn’t see it. As I had my own sandwiches I went in for a cappuccino to take out. I had expected, perhaps foolishly that a place like this would have friendly and chatty staff. Keen to talk to visitors. Boy was I wrong!! Didn’t get a “Hello” just asked what I wanted. The young lady who served me, I term I mean loosely. Was sullen and dour, I felt like my presence or indeed my small order was an irritant. The cappuccino itself although very nice, was tiny and the cup was certainly not filled to the top, I didn’t look inside but I would estimate it was half full, if that. For such a gorgeous location, a great disappointment. I would visit the location again but would avoid this cafe. Such a shame."

"Amazing eating and service. portion sizes are generous as it was not able to finish my Mac cheese, but the personal had offered to box it. the personal was fast and efficient. will certainly return."

"Visited the Kirkmichael Arms for a Hogmanay family meal and oh am I glad we did! The restaurant itself is lovely and has a real Scottish homely feel, the staff are all friendly and happy to help and the food absolutely to die for! Truly one of the best meals I have ever had. Will definitely be returning to the area for the sole purpose of visiting the Kirkmichael Arms and you should do the same! I promise you wont regret it."

"Beautiful place, with service as usual. her style (in the interior design, this is) is really well done whether it's 30's, 40's or maybe even 50's. whether they want to eat only a cup of coffee ' (and free refill) or something, this is a good place to go."
