"On one of our Goa exploratory trips, we were very hungry.. I chanced the Ranchikud board and instantly stopped to enquire with a localite on eating joints. He suggested another hotel to me. Then I enquired about Ranchikud.. With guilty face, he replied:"Its good, you should go there."I informed my colleagues and we went up. To our surprise we did not find anybody in the hotel and was wondering if it was the right decision.. In few minutes, we had all our concerns addressed when awesome fish thalies came (don't remember the names of the fish we tried - One was chonak, or was it??)Food was amazing, ambience incomparable.. calm for an afternoon party in Goa.. those who served were warm and friendly..Later, we realized that this hotel was awarded one of the chosen 20 RFC (guess it means Rice & Fish Curry) centers in Goa..Wish you good luck there.."

"The place is in the heart of the city and beautifully done. Food is amazing, a little expensive though. Loved the fresh from the oven Goan buns, tomato basil soup and an amazing fish curry"

"Well priced food. Decent quality and portions. We tried Goan King Fish curry and masala fry. Both were good. Chicken Cafreal was just fine, could be better. You also get beer.."

"We were a large group and went to Tanvi which is an open air restaurant looking over a small green patch. So.it was quite nice.Besides that the food was just awesome. We ordered for the local must have dish 'chanok' which was very well cooked , crispy and tasty. Post that we had their fish thalj which had one fish thick gravy, one fish curry with rice, two vegetables ,banana and sole kadhi...Loved the taste of it all.it was bent towards a bit of keralite cooking but very good.It took time of about 45 mins but was worth it. For about 8 people, we ordered starters, maij course and soft drinks with a total cost per head of around 250/- that is very good price for a very good lunch.Overall good to go again."

"Rapon means a fishing net in Konkani. It is a medium-sized restaurant on the second floor at Hotel Orion on NH 66 (old NH 17) in Porvorim, Goa. A lift is available in the foyer. My nephew and I visited this restaurant for the first time. It was for a Sunday dinner. Time was at 2:30. Since the place was quite warm and stuffy, I kidnapped that we were the only customers they had until this afternoon. However, the staff was very polite and the restaurant manager switched on the AC as soon as we arrived and the area cooled quickly enough. Although beers, wines and spirits are listed on the menu, I suspect that they can no longer serve them the new ban on bars and wine shops falling in 500 mtrs of the highway; and Hotel Orion is crushed on the highway. I don't drink alcohol, so I didn't even think about it. My nephew demanded the fish Thiali while he chose the Chonak, giant sea perch. The costs of thali Rs. 148/ I demanded a veg thali, p. 128/ We had a Ghalini Chicken Cafreal for dinner. Cost Rs. 255/ And a fresh lime silk. Cost Rs.35/each. Account was Rs. 601/ and I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was no additional taxes charged. Both the thalis were prepared with the usual accompaniments of salad, paddy, steamed rice, gravure preparation, half gravure preparation, dry preparation and Sol kadhi (coastal tamarind appetiser). Interestingly, the main fish shortage and in my case the Dal was served in an essentially large katori (Bowl), while the other preparations came in standard caterpillars. The meal was particularly delicious and the food was attractive overall. My nephew, who is a good food, was also happy with his dieli, and later at night my sister and he both agreed that the chicken caafreal was also delicious. The only inadequacy for me was that they did not serve a Roti or Chapattis with the Thali. I feel that it would be nice if they served either one of them or gave a larger proportion of rice. However, as they served additional vegetables, Dal or Curry on request, they also served an additional aid of rice. My fault; I should have asked. Note to the Tandoor: Tandoori food is only available for dinner. Total impressions: The place is cozy, not too big. Comfortable seating. Fine cutlery. Simple ambience and clean. The staff is polite and well trained. Perhaps the reason we were the only customers in the restaurant because the Orion Hotel itself is a bit back from the highway. In all probability, it basically works as a kitchen for room service for the house guests. It could be just one of those days. Last word: The food was delicious and cheap."
