"We make it a point to dine at Retroscena every time we visit Ortigia. They have a wonderful atmosphere and the food is always exceptional! The chicken skewers, polpi(octopus) and spinach ricotta ravioli with figs, and bacon lardons we had tonight were so full of flavor. Superb! The staff are kind and make everyone feel at home."

"I came here six years ago and last week I was in syrakus and wanted to visit again. we have eaten here clamari fritti and two species of pasta: tagliatelle with ink, bottarga and pistacchio, and hard fish ravioli in a longhustini bisque/sauce. it was...super delicious! the waiter was very helpful to forget his name, but I post a photo of him that serves us the delicious lunch!"

"Excellent little place, just off the beaten paths. Had an incredibly well balanced swordfish caponata served warm over crisp radicchio which offsets the sweetness perfectly. The maccheroni with fish ragout was incredibly flavoursome, Al dente and lifted by the herbs, currants and pine nuts. Good prices and a focus on quality over quantity was a welcome change. Friendly welcoming service, even got a few Italian lessons. Highly recommended."

"The most professional staff we saw in Sicily. Wait for us to finish a course before the next, always ask about eating and monitoring the wine level The food was also exceptional, vegetarian options. Dish sizes were actually bigger than we expected, especially for seafood"
