"After an enjoyable visit to the mesmerizing Castillo de Alcalá de Guadaíra, we headed for the Tavoletta Oromana Hotel, situated along the Rio Guadaira, surrounded by enchanting pine trees, overlooking the green hills stretching all the way beyond the horizon. Strangely enough, the four of us were the only people having lunch that afternoon it felt rather luxurious to have the place all to ourselves. By far the most enjoyable feature though was the fact that there was no background music, something of a rarity in Spain. The menu is somewhat traditional, but then again, it is very difficult anywhere in Andalusia to find an eatery with a distinctive variety of options. There was the omnipresent 'salmorejo ' cold tomato soup from Córdoba), 'revuelto ' a kind of scrambled eggs with cod), 'jamón ibérico ' cured ham from Huelva), 'solomillo de tenera ' beef tenderloin), and 'presa ibérica ' grilled pork steaks). If you feel like ordering something less obligatory and more adventurous, try the 'ajo blanco de mango ' cold almond soup with a scoop of divine goat 's cheese ice cream in the middle), or the 'carrillada ' slow cooked pork cheeks) with Pedro Ximenez sauce, or the 'suprema de corvina ' a delicious fish you won 't often find on a menu in the north of Europe). We enjoyed an exceptional afternoon with excellent food and a nice bottle of Matarromera, a red wine from the Ribera del Duero area €23). Location, ambience, service and food are all highly recommended!"
