"We booked a table at this restaurant blind after searching the Internet for a suitable location to meet friends. We were not disappointed. We were a party of four and we enjoyed a three course meal. For mains, three had fish and one had meat..., all cooked to perfection. The salad bar in the form of a rowing boat was quaint and full of delicious food. Desserts were of a high standard. We had a local Chardonnay wine aged in wood which was truly exceptional."

"Went in the evening and watched the sunset over the mountains while enjoying good food. The restaurant located next to the boats in the harbour and by the water makes for a very pleasant meal. Pasta and fondue were ordered and both were very good. Staff friendly, even on this busy evening, which meant a slightly longer wait, but who was rushing!"

"The ugly truth about Swiss restaurants is that they are all middle-of-the-road decent but with a general lack of creativity and variety. One can guess the entire menu of any random restaurant here. It is therefore with delight that I can say Le Carmen was...a total surprise. Even though the dishes might seem the same on the menu, they were beautifully presented with a fantastic mix of flavours. We had two different fish dishes, and they were superb. It is also clear that whoever runs this restaurant is a perfectionist: everything is neat and in order, and the interior decoration is creative and uplifting with lots of beautiful details not often found in Swiss restaurants. Walking through the town and down to the lake afterwards added to the wonderful experience. Highly recommended."

"La cuisine est très bonne, nous avons pris la potence de boeuf avec salade et dessert (glace et fondant). Rien à redire.Par contre, le service a été extrêmement lent. La jeune serveuse ne semblait pas savoir ce qu'elle faisait, mettant la potence dans le mauvais sens (ce qui prenait toute la place). Son stress ou son inexpérience était très dérangeant. Nous avons été servies très tard mais la serveuse plus ancienne nous a gentillement remplacé nos frites froides."

"Parlons cuisine, c'était parfait.En revanche le service... C'était aussi parfait ! Les patrons de ce petit restaurant convivial sont on ne peut plus agréables et on tout compris a la relation clientèle! Comptez 200 chf pour un repas a 4 en mangeant a notre faim. Pour un français c'est élevé mais pour un suisse c'est un prix normal. Merci a vous pour votre accueil, des amis de Hélène et Alain. Et Julien et Juliette du camping d'Estavayer."
