"HANDS DOWN the best restaurant in Evanston! It might even be one of my favorites in the whole Chicago area. Granted, I’ve only lived in suburbs three months but it can’t possibly get better than The Barn Steakhouse. The decor 5 stars! The service 5 stars! The food 5 stars! The cocktails… you get the picture. This place is bomb. First off the decor is straight up gorgeous. There’s a big feature chandelier, and the lighting is just right. Flatteringly dark, but you can see the menu and your food. The service is also phenomenal. Super friendly and helpful. And then just when I was thinking that I don’t even care how the food is, I’m coming back for the ambiance and cocktails… The STEAK! The SALAD! And the MASHED POTATOS! And that CAVIAR SANDWICH! Perfection. I can’t believe that all of our new Evanston friends didn’t immediately spill the beans about this place maybe they’re hoping to keep the reservations available for themselves? Honestly, I almost didn’t post this review because SAME. I want to eat here every day. There’s even a $35 prix fixe deal if you take the 5 6 pm dinner slot."

"They did not get the open table reservation so I had to show them email. It was Bastille day and they were unprepated- took 2 hours to get food. If they had not had music it would have been a disaster. Owner Pascal needs to sand and varnish the tables and upgrade the food."

"We went for a date night and chose the 5 course tasting menu along with a wine pairing. Although the seafood was well prepared (scallops and halibut were delicious), we were disappointed that the preparations were not as innovative as we were expecting. The service, however, was outstanding, and the wine pairings were excellent. The one thing that really stunned us was the amount of taxes tacked on the meal. We ended up paying 25% in taxes including a Covid Surcharge which we weren't expecting. If you're going to Oceanique...beware, the tab may be higher than you expect."

"All the staff were so welcoming and so wonderful!!! The lady behind the counter was very nice and gave me extra free food for my large order. She was so sweet and I definitely would want to visit again. The soup was mediocre, the salad was pretty good, and the sushi was fresh and really filled me up. Great place! It was a little more pricier than I thought but I think I got great value :"

"After a year and a half of limited restaurant dining it was a treat to eat such well prepared food. The menu had many choices that sounded excellent. I was very pleased with my appetizer and halibut entree which melted in my mouth. My dessert was outstanding. My only complaint was the prices of wine. Very expensive."
