"Popped in for a quick pastry breakfast The croissants were nice and tasted fresh and warm, but the chocolate pastry was a little underwhelming."

"Have stayed at Best Western as a holiday maker over the past few years and had good dinners at Snappers on previous occassions, if staying for multiple nights would definitely recommend giving the place a try. On my most recent visit only used Snappers for...breakfast. Great selection of hot buffet and cold continental to choose from, with bread for toast etc and tea and coffee making options. Everything was fine food wise during this stay, but one morning which was a public holiday it looked like there had been staff shortages or they'd just been caught out, as a few tables were either not been cleared or had been cleared and not reset. Many tables without cutlery and a napkin. We just found a clean table and grabbed our own cutlery from the ones available near the buffet. I assume maybe a small tour group had been in maybe when the restaurant first opened for breakfast hence the half ready tables. Was not a bad experience at all and I would definitely stay at Best Western and use Snappers again just felt like the place was playing catch up !!."

"After a weekend in Hobart we came back to Launceston. My love for seafood was filled down there, so my partner booked us for Mexicans in Prickly. What a place! Started with some margaritas that were absolutely delicious. Then a selection of ducks and nets. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. Very full, we discussed Dessert at the beginning, but couldn't match that we were so full. Super friendly and super nice. Come back."

"Diner from Perth WA. After wandering the streets if Launceston we came across the Northern Club, we enjoyed exceptional service from Luke and had a lovely 3 course meal with a refreshing glass of local wine. Would recommend a visit to this place. After dinner we had a little dance in the bar."

"PERFECT creme brulee, cake and lemon pudding but the bombolini could use a bit more cream. The waitress at the counter that I paid the bill to, was very friendly."

"Spacious portions, tasty affordable pub grub and a nice warm well-illuminated interior for a winter lunch. A few good dark beers on faucet and a relaxed atmosphere. Had the Banger and Mash. Great value and really impressed."

"Yes, you may have heard of Wendys the American fast food chain, but have you heard of the Australian franchise which is now known as Wendy's Milk Bar? Maybe less so. So, let me be your "guy'd". This spot, Wendy's, is somewhat of a Launceston institution, situated on the corner of the John St. end of the mall. "Milk bars are traditionally a place where people pick up milk and newspapers, and fast-food items like fish and chips and hamburgers, and where people can purchase milkshakes or lollies" (1) which is about the best way to describe what this spot does, and does so well.

Milk: Yes obviously you can just grab a carton of milk here. Duh.

Newspapers: So, they're not available for purchase, but why not sit down and read one of the local papers while you're waiting for your order? The best part is this won't cost you a thing.

Fast-food Items: While Wendy's might not offer the traditional fish and chips or burgers, they DO specialise in what they term 'dogs, or hotdogs. Perhaps you've heard of the Shake'n'dog combo with its iconic tremoring chihuahua TV spot. But first, the dogs. So yes, I'd say order the regular hot dog, which is a frankfurter in a soft roll with tomato sauce and mustard. This is great. The buns are always so soft and rather than being cut to insert the sausage, they are somehow inserted without compromising the structure of the bun at all. This has always interested me and is something I've tried, unsuccessfully, to replicate at home multiple times. Of course, like all good 'dogs, the bun is steamed. The frankfurter itself is custom made for Wendy's franchises and has that great 'snap' you look for in a sausage. Interior is suitably pink, probably best not to think whats in it though lol. Also available is the Mega Dog and Egg and Bacon roll. I cant speak for either of these, but usually its best to stick to the classics.

Milkshakes or Lollies: This is the other area where Wendy's shines, and in an interesting twist, a lot of the shakes available here actually contain lollies! I can recommend the Crunchie, M&M and Maltesers shakes. These are all thick and creamy, without being overbearing like some more contemporary "instagram shakes" which incorporate similar ingredients. Still, they're quite big so maybe enjoy with a friend.

And that's about all I have to say on the matter. If you're visiting Launceston, check this spot out, you won't be disappointed. Nothing better in the tummy after being at the mall than this.

References:
(1) wikipedia milk bar"
