"Steam Cafe South Brisbane. Along the many eateries overlooking the river southern part of the river, there is a fair few choices to be made. More or less you are more going for the location than the food, and in certain parts there are a few fantastic choices for diner. At the end of the dining scene, many would say that it is the far end of the fine dining, where it becomes closer to fast food/food court style; they would not be incorrect. Which brings up to this place. While, of course it is not the best cafe around by a long or narrow stretch, it is not anywhere near as bad as the reception on here is making it out to be. "Stopped in here today for lunch as a had a craving for ramen & i had an appointment at the Mater. The "train" was pretty empty, not a good sign. I ordered my ramen & waited, and waited, and waited. Yeah it took a while & honestly wasn't really worth the wait. The broth was band & the noodles stuck together. Sadly i didn't enjoy it. I tried something off the still depleted train but it wasn't great (okonomiyaki). A lot of the sushi i saw looked poorly made too but maybe it tasted good? It was fairly steady, customer wise but maybe that's just because of its close proximity to the hospital. Next time I'll try somewhere else."

"They like chili here. Both the olive entree and chicken burger had enough chili to let your lips know. The olives were served warm and a decent serve size. The burger was tasty with crunchy bacon and cheese. The Monday $15 special of a schooner and burger is a good deal on this area. <br>

Service was a bit slow considering there were only a handful of people in the place. But there was only one person working the kitchen too.<br>

Nice ambience with room to move onto the street during the earned days. The music was at a volume that allowed conversation without telling. ✔️"

Tasty, beautifully presented and well-spiced Indian food.<br>

The soft-shell crab was near perfect, saag gosht was reassuringly fragrant and filling, the aloo gobi sabzi actually had a bit of bite and the toasted coconut rice was sensational.<br>

The ambience - it's always really quiet every time I go past and we nearly didn't go in tonight because there was only one other couple inside. In the end we were glad we did but it was only because we'd had positive reports on the food from a couple of friends. <br>

If we hadn't had a recommendation then we'd probably have gone elsewhere. It must be disheartening for staff to turn up and cater to so few customers although they're very welcoming nonetheless.<br>

I wonder if changing the design of the entrance might make a difference? If you kept the outdoors seating area open for people wanting snacks/coffee/quick drinks and put some sort of partial screen to hide the interior to make it feel a bit more intimate then you might get a bit of atmosphere.<br>

Offering discounts to nearby healthcare workers and advertising on the hospital noticeboards might help. The food and staff are great but there's a spark missing.<br>

The naan bread was okay but small portions. If you've got a tandoor or similar then could you use it to make big teardrop shaped fluffy naan? The essential burnt bits and fluffiness were missing from the bread we ate.<br>

Unfortunately I don't think the name does you any favours. 'Colour Me Flavour' doesn't tell me anything about the food or what sort of cuisine you're offering.<br>

Higher-end Indian fusion is always going to run the risk of being a bit hit and miss. We stuck with the more traditional Gujarati specials because we figured the fusion stuff might be a gamble. Having eaten with you once we'd probably try some of the other dishes but for a first-time visitor they needed a bit more explanation on the menu to convince us to try them out."

"I tend not to leave bad reviews and don’t like doing so. However, when it’s this bad!!! Over charged on our order check your receipt, meal was incorrect, meal was cold and sloppily prepared. Normally this fast food chain is better than average at...most venues. This particular venue today was poor."

"To get a decent steak shouldn't be difficult but for some reason it is .. after searching Brisbane for months in the hunt for a bloody good steak we came across this bistro pub . We had two for one vouchers from the entertainment book that's why we looked it up for a visit . We arrived just on kitchen closing time however this was no problem for the chefs in the kitchen and shatter me with shaving cream (no it's not a fetish of mine ) did the best fillet Mignon arrive with an excellent side salad and chips so good I thought I was in a French restaurant in Switzerland but no we were st the Plough inn hotel in Southbank , so good were our meals we couldn't believe our luck it was so delicious I had to pinch myself . All staff were engaging and helpful to top of a perfect meal and setting . I just can't wait to get back there for round two , my faith restored and hats of to the kitchen"

"Lovely dinner with friends. The ham, calamari, lamb skewers, carne, lamb shoulder were all excelente The starter, tapas, main meals, drinks - $50pp bargain!The seam to only take bookings for groups of 10 so get in early so as not to be disappointed. You can always wait in the fabuloso sangria bar until they can fit you in.Deffs be back. Next time sangria! Disfrutar!I hope you found this review helpful - enjoy Southbank :)"
