"With so many cafes to choose from in Totnes, we decided to give these guys a try. They are at the top of the main street in Totnes well worth the visit. The staff were lovely and friendly. The coffee was good and good for light bites and smaller meals. If you're hungry or have a tribe of big eaters, you might want to reconsider going here. I had the samosa chat for one and was still hungry after finishing it. My wife had the fennel salad from the Light bites option, and that was probably for a supermodel. My wife is not a big eater, but not really enough for her. The food tasted great and I would go back, as long as I wasn't super hungry. There's a courtyard at the back for a bit more peace and quiet."

"Vegans are spoilt for clearly marked choice at this cosy restaurant. Standouts were the buttery chana dall and the oily-in-a-good-way aubergine with a turmeric glow and the bite of unusual flat bean seeds. The richness of the latter lent itself to the side dish size serving between two. Although not marked as such, chapatis may be vegan depending on the night (according to the chef's butter whim we were told) so it's worth asking. The chilli heat in some dishes such as the dall can be upped on request too."

"Very busy for a November evening which is great to see. We had to park offsite in a nearby residential area. So good to choose from a menu that includes ethically sourced meats. I chose from the specials board, excited by the offer of venison. The plate included venison steak, veg and suet pudding. The suet pudding was incredible. The venison steak, however, was very tough. Inedible. I was envious of the fish choices my family made and regretted not going with the free range chicken in cider. We live and learn. So sad that the deer died in vain!"

"It's not often I get quite cross at a restaurant or bar but Ben's Tapas last night (28/12/22) really pushed my buttons. My wife, daughter and I went in to the bar at 5.15 and asked for food. We were told that food was not gong to be served until 6pm. Fair enough. we sat down at a table that was not reserved (we were told to sit where there was not black bottle saying reserved on it) and ordered a drink. At 5.50 I went to the bar to get a menu. Deciding what we would like I returned to the bar to order our food to be told that they weren't serving walk ins and did we have a table reserved. I couldn't believe it. We had said on three occasions about food and no one bothered to tell us that we would not be able to have any. A total sham and a joke how a place is run. We have been a few times but will not return in a hurry."

"We stopped on a whim and ordered the roast lunch. I had the steak and ale pie and my wife had the roast beef. Both very nice and plenty of veggies with it. And the price was excellent value! Nice forecourt for sitting outside."
