"We were here last year and had to come back this year.Again - fabulous and lean steak on the stone was our choice - a large chunk of fillet to cook to our liking - for only €12 including fries.It is not fancy, but you can watch the meat being prepared and pre- cooked on the outside barbecue.Go!"

"If you are looking for a great family run restaurant in Manta Rota you won 't do much better than A Proa. It is a quaint and intimate spot popular with locals and tourists alike. Advance booking is advised because most nights they are full...to capacity. A Pro translates as 'The Bow ' as in the bow of a ship and the restaurant has a strong nautical theme and is famous for its fish dishes. However, everything they do they do well my wife had salmon one night and tuna another night. As a vegetarian I had omelette and chips, mushroom the first night and the second night when I mentioned I was a vegetarian one of the proprietors (Janine) suggested a vegetarian omelette which came with mushrooms, tomatoes and onions and was absolutely super, served with salad and chips. Meat eaters do well here too! This is a must visit restaurant in Manta Rota. Once you have eaten there yourself you will understand why there are often queues outside the door. This is great Portuguese cooking...try it and you won 't be disappointed. We tried it first in June and couldn 't wait to come back. It was reviews on TripAdvisor which encouraged us to try it first. When we are away I depend on TripAdvisor for advice on the best places to eat and find I never go too far wrong. If you find this review helpful I would appreciate a helpful vote. Thank you."

"Much respect for this cook who stands alone. Delicious shrimps with rice in curry sauce. Grilled Sepia unfortunately not that fresh and quite tough, those two pieces. I've also had better pudding. Simple dishes, reasonably priced. I'm not very excited about it."
