"We went for dinner recently with some misgivings as it was their first day back from holidays. We need not have worried. The food was excellent and exquisitely cooked. The only reason I have not given the restaurant an excellent rating is because, in common...with most Swiss restaurants unfortunately, the wine prices are ridiculously high. (Marks up of 4 to 5 times are not uncommon). There is a tasting menu which can vary, I think, from 5 to eight courses. We went à la carte as we didn't want the volume and didn't chase after the main course. However, we did not ask if substitutions from the à la carte menu were possible. It also states that all at the table must choose the menu. We both started with a carpaccio of scallops with fennel and a large prawn. The scallops and fennel were sliced wafer thin and coated in a vinaigrette emulsion. The prawn was perfectly grilled and set vertically on the centre of the dish. Brilliant. As a main course my wife had the best dover sole I have ever tasted outside London or Brittany. I had a filet mignon of veal which was equally delicious. Service was good at all stages. You are not far from the Röstigraben and so there was a mixture of French and Swiss-German spoken by both guests and staff. The main restaurant has room for only about 20 people and there is no expectation of turning the table so the ultimate bill is not cheap: but worth it. There is also a bistro which has a separate menu. Things may have changed since a prior review as the blackboard menu was quite extensive and our hostess told us certain dishes were extremely popular at lunchtime. We are going to find out."
