"Puhoi Pub is a great stop for a bite to eat on the way up to Northland, and it regularly has a band playing in the weekend’s My partner and I had a Cheese Bacon Burger and chips and it was a beautiful homemade patty with a big rasher of bacon and fresh lettuce and sliced tomatoes. The chips were crinkle cut and cooked to perfection. There is plenty of BBQ tables all with large market umbrellas for shade. The service was excellent and the old decor was like stepping back to the 1800s What I found awesome was the quests would write on a currency note from NZ or from the country they were from and pin it to the inside walls of the pub soo cool"

"I do love a good Caesar Salad, so my standard here is high. I had it with chicken added and yes, went with the anchovies. I was certainly not disappointed and neither was my wife with her salad which included jalapenos (too hot for me). Great and attentive service!"

"Lovely staff, great food, unusual and interesting due to the chef being German we were told. He had a couple of VERY young kitchen hands who were doing a fantastic job from the look of the food and the speed of the food service. They were busy but the staff were attentive and pleasant. The bar tender made us a Moscow Mule her first, she was a little light on the vodka but it was a good first attempt. Definitely going again. Try the sesame salmon salad, it was spectacular."

"Lovely pub! Great food! Just stopped off here on the way to Te Awamutu from Auckland for a quick bite. We had the chicken burger and the lamb shank, both great. Higher quality than expected for a roadside stop off. Atmosphere was lovely, very comfortable and the staff were welcoming and polite. This will now be a must for us whenever we make this journey."
