"The past is often better than the present, they say, and in this case I am afraid that it seems to be true, as far as I am concerned. For a number of years, the knack was to corner a table under the pavement, and Rioja and conversation flowed. They would even cook us school food (like spotted dick and custard) People move on: things change and this establishment is not what it was. I do not believe that this is a case of rose tinted spectacles on my part, as the menus are more ordinary, and the quality of the cooking (a subject about which I claim to know quite a lot) is not what it was. Having said that, the staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere remains good. I would still return but not as often"

"One of the best fine eating there! we just dried up and no booking, but they managed to sit down, we arrived at 17.30. the dame explained the menu and was honest about it. we ordered some and they were all amazing. the two things we loved most were the otopus and the dulce de leche cheesecake. everything was amazing, but just have to point out that these two were crazy good! cocktails were also good!"

"The food is exceptional and reasonably priced for London. I would rate this as one of the best Chinese restaurant in London. However, I've been here 3 times now and while I've never been disappointed with the food, the service is distinctly average."

"Eating and ambiente was nice. the service was disappointing. we had to wait 20 minutes for our table and we had a late time slot. they were not very accommodating and offered us cheap tequila shots for our waiting period."

"L'Escargot is a real treat and a Soho institution. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you know you are in a place that means business. It screams gentleman's club (in fact, there is a member's club upstairs) and has the solicitous service that you would expect from such a place. The food is classic stuff with a sniff of decadence risotto made with truffle, grilled lobster, chateaubriand.... It goes without saying that you should try the escargot. I had never had snails before so it made sense that my first experience should be in a place that is named after them. They were so delicious, rich with garlic butter and parsley. It's not particularly cheap, but they do offer a very reasonable pre- theatre menu if you want the experience at a bargain price.<br br/>I really recommend this restaurant if you want a special evening or if you just want a bite before the theatre. The food is excellent, as is the wine list, so you won't be disappointed."

"Went in for the Mother's Day Special Lunch, and was overall quite impressed. I could tell they were trying very hard to pull off a luxurious feel serving oscietra caviar, black truffles, and foie gras all in one meal, and they were all great, but at the same time I felt as if they might be lacking a bit of creativity by playing it too safe. The presentation and handling of all ingredients were text book perfect, but it was expected considering the quality of ingredients they're using. Would've appreciated a little kick of unexpected pleasant surprises, but combined with the professional service of staff and exceptional pairing suggestions from the somelier, it was overall a very pleasant dining experience. Also appreciated the cute complimentary birthday dessert for Dad and the take home chocolate. It was my first time here but other family members have been several times, and have all said their previous visits were much more impressive, so maybe I'll have to check it out again next time."

"I was invited to Aveqia on a corporate event and didn't really know what to expect. All I knew was that I was to supposed to cook my own dinner... And since I didn't really know any of the others I was a little apprehensive. But what can I say! I had the most amazing evening. We were greeted by the lovely hostesses and had an introductory talk with our chefs for the evening whilst drinking a glass of wine. We were then divided in to teams, each given one of the 4 courses to prepare. There was plenty of hands on preparation and cooking of dishes I don't think any of us would haver ever dreamt of being able to cook. The chefs were very patient and helpful! But we really did it all under their guidance. We must have spent a couple of hours all cooking together whilst drinking wine and chatting.. We then sat down together and sampled what we had all cooked. The food was divine it was on par with what you would expect in any top class restaurant and we had cooked it ourselves! I simply can't recommend Aveqia enough! A perfect venue for entertaining your clients or to go to together with a group of friends. I will definitely arrange another evening there again soon."
