"The members (and member guests)-only Lausanne Golf Club long ago decided what kind of club it wanted to be: exclusive, classy, and more than a bit old-fashioned. What has changed a lot throughout the years has been the quality of its restaurent. Once a contender for one of the best mid-range dinner-spots in the region, recent times have been less fortunate.As befits the establishment in general, the desired vibe is one of class and elegance, and a recent, much-needed renovation job has successfully helped uphold appearances. The strictly enforced dress-code, though presenting weird loop-holes, also serves that purpose. It's a shame then that though the prices are consistent with the location and decor, that the food and service simply aren't in the same league, especially for signature dishes.Our most recent - and probably last - visit was during game season following strong recommendations. The game was very average, but at a premium cost and with bland sides. This was made all the more annoying by a surprising bill (100 Swiss Francs/person and only two of the six guests had had more than water to drink).It is sadly inevitable that any business runs the risk of floundering in the absence of competition, and this is a case in point. If you really must eat in the near vicinity we recommend the much nicer, tastier, cheaper and more welcoming Hostellerie des Chevreuils."
