"We were hungry. It was late. We hadn't been able to find a place that was open. So we took the next exit off A-20 and drove into Meuzac. We pulled up to this little place that looked deserted and were about to turn around and drive back to the highway when a woman poked her head out and motioned for us to come in. We did, and within minutes another couple was there, looking for a restaurant too. Later a group of six also dined there. It looked like an open-air, beach pit grill but was a gourmet dining experience--absolutely delicious! The appetizer, a foie gras creme brûlée, was outstanding; the risotto with shrimp and scallops, to die for. La Paillote was one of the highlights of our two weeks in France."

"Deplorable reception. I arrive, I say hello and the lady behind her counter barely answers me, probably in her thoughts. There were no customers... I don't even wonder why. Does not take the CB, we ask where we can withdraw money and we are told that there is nothing here, the ladies were busy looking for a plane. Don't waste your time and move on."
