"Food and service was really good! I'm not waiting for food. I had the crispy chicken sluice special that came with a salad and soup of the day (Kreamy potato cheese and bacon). Everything was super good and the amount of chicken in the pack was great! I just wish there was a little more bacon! One must try for everyone! Great options and great value."

"Good choice of food, quality is as expected for a hotel restaurant, pricey of course as well. If it's for vacation go for it, definitely not an everyday eating sort of place. But it's well managed and staff are friendly!"

"This is a lovely spot, just a block uphill from the crowded Halifax waterfront, to get a bite to eat and a pint. Indoor and outdoor seating. Excellent selection of local beers on tap. (We watched several deliveries from local breweries during lunch. The food servings were very generous. I highly recommend the Fish Burger. The fries were the best I've ever tasted."

"We had a very satisfying family dining experience last night at this quality restaurant in Halifax.Three of us dined on their superb lightly grilled haddock.Our family visitor said her Digby scallops were excellent and our grandaughter was very impressed with her onion soup.Our grandson cleaned out his bowl of pasta.The delicious apple crumble with vanilla ice cream made me forget calories for the evening.The others chose lemon meringue dessert which brought looks of total satisfaction to their faces. The server was outstanding:highly competent and very pleasant.The restaurant offers a beautiful view of trees and flowers just outside their large windows.We dined from 6PM and avoided any parking problems."

"We thought we were hooped for good dinner options when we arrived late after some flight delays. Traveling with a toddler meant we couldn't dine in at any of the neighbourhood pubs or bars at that hour, but Unchained let us call in a takeout order just a half hour before they closed. Two adults and a hungry toddler split an awesome French onion burger and fried chicken sandwich, both with lovely crisp fries and a garlicky dip. Both sandwiches were juicy, well composed and had perfect structural integrity. The buns held up really well despite everything that was going on in there. Great meat to topping ratios on both. The food traveled really well and both tasted and looked incredible. Highly recommend!"
