"Hidden Gem. <br/ <br/ Started with very cute inviting color, this restaurant surprised us with tasteful food. We had pasta and rack of lamb. Both perfectly prepared and plated. Dessert was wonderful and light. In case you were wondering, this is a Italian restaurant with a twist perfect for a date night or group."

"This was my first time dining at The Cottage and I absolutely loved it. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and quaint, lots of ambiance. Great service, attentive wait staff who took great care of us. And the food! Great variety of options on the menu, including vegetarian options. We tried 4 of the shared plates, 3 different mains and 2 desserts and every single thing we had was delicious! Plus they have a comprehensive wine list to go with the food, featuring lots of high quality wines. Will definitely be returning, what a gem!"

"We had 3 different meal times and each met the place perfect. baked eggs, morning burger and the fennel salat highly recommended. the couple running this caffe are both French cordon bleu trained and it shows. they make all their own cakes and torts, and they taste as good as they look. great local caffe that deserves paragliding."

"We had a great meal at Asti – which we originally discovered by accident – on our last night in Australia in mid-March 2012. It had been hard to get a booking even 2 weeks in advance (partly I think because they had a discount voucher offer going on). However, we arrived half an hour early and were seated straight away - and there were some empty tables most of the time we were there – although overall it was quite busy. I don’t think it had been open all that long, so they may have been getting up to speed still. The décor is pleasant, and the food was fantastic – I had the green asparagus velouté, pork belly and poached pear in red wine. There are a few criticisms – although overall we had a great time. My first choice of starter was not available, but I was not told until after I had ordered it, and my first choice for wine was also not available – again the waitress had to return to the table to tell me. The waitress spoke in French at times – well, I love a French accent and I understood her, but that seemed a bit odd/unnecessary in Australia. There was a toilet off of the area where we were seated, and although there was a sign to say to use the toilets upstairs, someone used the downstairs one and left the door open. The staff did not spot this and I had to ask them to close the door so that I could get on with my meal without looking into the loo! This is an expensive, aiming to be top range, restaurant, so the service needs to be perfect. However, if we went back tomorrow I guess these things will probably have been sorted out. Unfortunately it’s a 24-hour flight away….. With slightly better servcie and slightly lower prices, I'm sure it will be a great success."

"Wondering around, I found this place attracted by the nice jazz music. I read the reviews and decided to try their coffee. I highly recommend it to stop by here. I am a coffee addict and this one is great. Strong, rich and smooth. Chilling out in a sunny terrace! Nice addition to our Balmain village: Try their fresh delicious muffins, you will be impressed!"
