"We have been to Carvoeiro many times but for some reason had never been here. It was close to where we were staying so decided to give it a try. On a positive note, the welcome from the owner was great but possibly a bit too much, which continued during our meal. She seemed to have a running commentary the whole evening and kept a very close eye on her staff. We asked for couvert (bread, butter and pate only) but she decided we would like the olives too, so they were quickly moved from the fridge to our table! Unfortunately the bread wasn't as fresh as we had hoped. I had the chicken kebab for my main course. To say it was basic would be an understatement think I finished the plate in 5 minutes. The portion was very small and certainly not worth the price, of around 20 Euros. My wife had the seabass and did enjoy it the portion was slightly more generous. I said to the owner I was still hungry after my main course, so she wasted no time in describing in detail the various sweets on offer (which she makes herself). I settled on the apple strudel with homemade ice cream. Again, the portion was quite small and the ice cream crumbled it clearly hadn't set properly. The owner is a lovely, friendly lady. It is clear she takes pride in her restaurant. Unfortunately the food wasn't really of a great quality and the portions were small. The food was also served very quickly, perhaps too quickly. At least we tried A Vela but won't rush back I'm afraid."

"Was quite busy when i got there and my friends had already started drinking a recommended wine, sadly they ran out of this one which was a shame. I was a little disappointed in my main, which was the black linguine as the large prawn...was not cooked so had to leave that. The desserts looked good but we needed to leave before curtain call in the theatre so cannot comment on them."

"Very good fresh fish and local food. simple and tasty. we ate cheese, garlic mushrooms and olives as appetizer and freshly grilled fish with salat as main course. good value for money. very friendly and attentive service. a clear recommendation."

"I recently came on holiday to Carvoeiro with my parents and and younger sister of 13 ans I loved this place. Down the road is an also very good gelateria however the queues were too long due to the popularity and the staff weren 't always polite- their fro yo was amazing though which is why I frequently went. 'Guigo ' fortunately offers kind staff, the owner 's husband who just so happened to be the only one who actually served us, was very nice and a great crepe maker, during the day offering table service. The food was great and the seating offered shade to cool off in the hot weather. I thoroughly recommend this cafe and look forward for coming here again when I next visit! 5 STARS"

"Visited on our first day in Algarve for our evening meal. Quick, good and friendly service. Pizza was lovely (however for my taste The pizza could have had more tomato pizza sauce on) as well as our pink gin cocktails. We weren’t able to finish our pizza’s so the waiter kindly put them in a take away box for us both. Prices are reasonable for approx. €8 per pizza, €8 for gin cocktail and €2 for soft drinks. Would recommend to families and couples."
