"La Grignotiere, located in the Monfort commune of Gers department, is a lovely restaurant serving some great local cuisine. Our visit to the commune coincided with the local bio market, a visit to the market is also highly recommended. The restaurant located at the town centre, the terrace providing a good view of the town square. The restaurant menu provides a la carte as well as a fixed menu option. We had fish for starters followed by duck as the mains. The fish had a subtle mustard sauce which we thoroughly enjoyed. The duck though not our favourite meat was good, and do not regret ordering. This was followed by a cheese plate and some wonderful dessert. The hotel staff are friendly and the service is quick. The bio market day also witnesses cultural programs in the occitan dialect, and the terrace provides a good view of these performances. It is advisable to reserve a table if you are visiting the restaurant on the day of the markets, since the place was crowded. Monfort is a lovely town, reminiscent of a bygone era. A walk through this old town culminating in a wonderful lunch at the 'La Grignotiere ' is a perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon."
