"Do not miss the opportunity to eat here. We have been coming to St Jean for many years and yet have never tried this special restaurant until last night. We will be returning at every chance. What makes it so special is the simple format, ‘old school’ gentle manner of the owner (her husband is in the kitchen showing incredible skill). I had the Daurade which was quite simply the best fresh fish I have tasted. My partner had fish soup and this was equally as good. Home made chocolate cake and sorbet from Sicily just divine. This is not a flash place which is what makes it so wonderful and yet the food can match up to any of the more glamorous Riviera restaurants. Quaint and authentic some reviewers have said it is stuck in the 1970s but this is part of the charm the world is full of restaurants trying too hard. This place doesn’t need to the food and friendly owners do the talking. Not one to miss but you need to book."

"Lovely setting by the harbour at St. Jean Cap Ferat. Friendly service and typical French brasserie seafood menu: gambas, sea bass etc. Not cheap but this is probably one of the most exclusive areas of the French Riviera! Excellent English spoken, if required."

"My wife and I enjoyed a very tasty lunch here recently and would certainly recommend to others. There are a number of waterfront restaurants to choose from, however Le Pirate seemed to have something different. We were warmly welcomed on a busy lunch time and had the perfect spot with a view over the port. Prompt and polite service, the food was super tasty and all washed down with a bottle of chilled local wine. I kept it simple with a creamy prawn risotto perfectly cooked and with large juicy prawns followed by the obligatory profiteroles. We were impressed with Le Pirate in an area where you are spoilt for restaurants. We love Le Pirate.Thanks Stuart Susan x"
