"Trying to eat for a week in a city with a preponderance of restaurants serving wiener schnitzel and french fries is difficult! Although the review on Tripadvisor were not great, one night we tried Shang Hai in the desire for something different and as the...kids just wanted to have a take out experience to eat in our nearby hotel. I walked to the restaurant and was greeted by who I assume to be the wife of the husband/wife owners. Though it was 6:30pm, the small restaurant was completely empty other than who I assumed to be the owner's teenage son. The restaurant is also downscale decoration/cleanliness wise and so my instincts were to stay to the safer side of the menu ordering plain jasmine rice, cucumber and avocado sushi rolls, cucumber salad, vegetarian egg rolls and (on the dangerous side) chicken fried rice for my teenage son. Turns out that the food was all good (not great mind you, just basic satisfactory Chinese restaurant food) and we repeated the experience a few nights later, daring to include both salmon and tuna sushi rolls in the order. The restaurant was much more populated during the second visit, with over half of the perhaps 10 tables being occupied. This allowed me to see some of what other people ordered, which looked to be large portions. I would recommend giving this place a try but being prepared to expect a visually unappealing restaurant served by amateur staff (basically the owner and her two teenage sons in teenage son t shirts). Even though the prices were not super cheap, think more of a Hong Kong side street restaurant than a resort worthy dining experience."

"What a wide selection of menu has been offered. Cheese fondue, raclette fondue, and Chinese beef fondue and beef Bourguignonne fondue. Really generous portions of food. The atmosphere is really warm and friendly. A huge car wheel delivered by French friends to our table. Also a massive... share of pimples. We had an amazing time and would definitely return."
