"I was really surprised to find such great cajun food in Charlottesville. I cooked in New Orleans for 9 months while my wife finished at Tulane and this was just like many of the great small restaurants in New Orleans. Great peacemaker, shrimp poboy , the red beans and rice was great too."

"Unfortunately we were disappointed with our dining experience. We have been to Clifton Inn more than 20 times in the last 20 years. The dining experience has changed considerably in that time period. Twenty years ago it was an event with a prix fixe menu headed by chef Craig Hartman. He left and the chef has changed multiple times and we have continued to give the restaurant a chance because of the history and ambiance. It is now Ala carte dining but this will be our last visit. The service was lacking, the waiter did not understand the wines on the wine list and they have no sommelier, waters were not refilled (they brought food and really never came back) food was ok but not for the price. We were celebrating a birthday and they were not even able to place a candle on the dessert. It was simply not the higher end experience we expected or paid for this last time."

"Service was nice and fast. Emma was very sweet and attentive. We have fried the banana, roasted green tomatoes, strawberry white chocolate pancakes, lower hash and baked avocado with eggs. Everything was delicious. On the back porch, which was away from other guests, my children let themselves feel comfortable when they take off their masks. Oh, and the bathroom tile is beautiful! It is an old home and the atmosphere is charming! Very recommended for a celebration or a special treat!!"

"Not sure if we just caught them on a good day (World Vegan Day) or what, but almost all of their specials were vegan and their standard menu had many vegan options. We enjoyed the seitan po’ boy, Beyond Sausage Hoagie and mushroom tacos with some chili and butternut squash soup thrown in for good measure. All tasty and filling options. Most of their desserts were vegan, we enjoyed the apple crisp and chocolate mousse cake. Recommend in Charlottesville!"

"The breakfast biscuit sandwiches are amazing! Honestly they have nailed the biscuit recipe to be strong enough to hold the sandwich to eat it, but still somehow awesomely crumbly as a biscuit should be. The eggs are always perfectly cooked and the breakfast sausage is unreal."

"We came understanding the great Thanksgiving dinner we had four years ago. This time not so. My wife had the chicken thinking of that moist turkey from the past) IT WAS VERY DRY! …..and the sauce could not make up for it. P.S. my wife was an executive chef ….. now teaching culinary) My rockfish was better but the presentation made it look like a glorified chicken tender.
